Anyone having a hard time with dairy, even if you take Lactaid? My tolerance has been zero. But it started when I took the cefdinir 3 weeks ago. I'm on Zithro, cefdinir, plaquenil and a probiotic pill. Or could it be the cefdinir?

Hi scupscake

I'm lactose intolerant as well. My view on it is this:

Lactose is very hard to digest for us. Usually, things like lactaid help.

But- Lyme treatment is hard on the digestive systme, because abx kill all the good bacteria. That is why we take probiotics.

So our bodies are working hard enough to deal with everything else, that they just don't have enough "oomph" left to digest the lactose, even with lactaid.

That being said- I don't know much about your abx specifically. So it's possible that in your case, it is just the abx. Maybe someone else can give you more info

I eliminated dairy for one day so far and it's made a difference. Someone told me I may be able to get prescription strength (yikes, another pill to take!) but looking into that. I'll let you know.

What irks me is that I'm following the suggestions of Burroscano in not eating carbs and such so eliminating dairy REALLY limits choices. I'm hungry! :>p

You could try checking out some vegan cookbooks from the library. Obviously, the recipes are dairy-free. It might be worth giving it a try if you're having a hard time cutting the dairy.

Some of my favorite vegan cookbooks include:

Vegan with a Vengeance
The Mediterranean Vegan Kitchen
Lorna Sass' Complete Vegetarian Kitchen

Cheers,
AnnaL (vegan for six years)
