Are the "conflicts-of-interest" becoming more glaringly obvious in the medical journal and pharmaceutical fields?
I had read a good book on the topic earlier this year called "Our Daily Meds"-- Pharma's influence is pervasive in recommending, and prescribing drugs.(Particularly the "Blockbusters"-like Lipitor.)
The large drug manufacturers would like you to believe that certain drugs are tested, and safe,as evidenced by the Dr.'s that prescribe them,(and plug them) at various medical conferences and seminars....
"Ask your Dr.?"
More on "Our Daily Meds"-- A Bill Moyers profile of Melody Petersen, author of the book mentioned above.
By the way,a good starting point for drug side-effect searches,if you're not sure if a particular Rx is causing a Herx,or you're having a reaction to it is here:
It lists prescription meds alphabetically, so you can see if others have had the same reaction as yourself..It is "patient-based", so use it in conjunction with the info usually available on the drug manufacturer's website.
(I added this here,it also appears in "General"- if forum category is wrong, please advise, I'll delete the "offender")

Can't believe no one has seen the youtube article by Melody Petersen. I would love to see what others think about this.
Come on guys just take some time to listen to this journalist. Especially in light of the IDSA hearings.
Again thanks Joe -- little stumped about the lack of feedback on it.

Don't know about where you are, but here in Northern NJ, it's one of the most comfortable days (humidity wise and rain wise) we've had in weeks.
Outside of working on my version of the "Ark" in my backyard, I've been running some errands- maybe they are too and they'll catch up later.

Maybe Joe, I'm in Maryland just outside of D.C. It's humid -- rained this morning and it about 85 degrees.
Well, hopefully someone will look it over.

Thanks for posting Joe. I did take a look at the article and the Bill Moyers interview with the book author and I can only say that this is a familiar theme.
This sums it up pretty well. From the video
"This book is about how America's for-profit medical system - filled with incentives to make money and disincentives for good care - has failed."
The book is about prescription drugs but as we chronic lyme patients know from first hand experience, the profit motive controls our medical care starting with the IDSA guidelines and permeating every aspect of medical care.
There were many articles posted last year about corruption in research. It is a little depressing but such is the medical/industrial complex.
Medical care is broken in the U.S..

If we could just get enough people to watch the interview and under our skin - the two complement each other amazingly well. It is really hard to throw jounalistic stones at a bill moyers journal report. It also corroborates a great deal of what Under our Skin is talking about. Especially for those folks who grew up feeling doctors are saints.
It supports under our skin's message against the idiots from the baltimore sun and other papers who've aligned themselves with the medical community over the public.
