No matter how much food I eat I still feel like I have eaten nothing and this has been true for years. Im not overweight but I still dont like the irritating constant hunger feeling.

This morning on "Good Morning America" on tv they were talking about dieting and they said the name of a supplement that if taken eliminates hunger and causes too quick a weight loss for dieters. Of course I didnt hear the name of the supplement and couldnt find anything on their web site so perhaps someone here might know what supplement they might have been talking about.

The starvation was the same no matter what my diet was but the starting of antibiotics made my variety of food limited and so now that I want a low energy cost of feeding myself eating the same thing every meal is good not bad.

Breakfast is fresh fruit and romaine lettuce with almond butter spread on them, lots of them.

Lunch is thawed frozen peas & beans with can pumpkin and a little bit of canned watered beets that I add applecider vinegar to. Then I add more vinegar and olive oil and some thawed blueberries for desert. On yes I add 1/4 cup ground walnuts. I use to use chicken that I roasted but the walnuts are just as tasty and so much easier to to do and a few months ago the smell of the chicken roasting smelled awful instead of wonderful so I deleted it. Oh yes every few days I use a can of sardines instead of walnuts.

Dinner frozen brocolli, spinach, carrots and cabbage with ground walnuts and olive oil and heaping spoon of turmica.

One or 2 bananas as snacks. Adding the fruit is the best part of being off the antibiotics.

I have this same symptom along with weight loss. I could eat all day I never feel full...and gain no weight.

i would be starving too if i ate your diet.

what about adding more protein like fish, pork, ham, turkey, beef?

brown rice, couscous and sweet potatoes are healthy too.

I agree, you should definitely try eating more eggs and meat. You're also eating too many nuts.

How about 2 eggs for breakfast, and atleast some meat everyday. I eat a fair bit of good quality burger/sausage ...

I would be starving on your diet! If I don't get any starchy carbs at all, I feel horrible. Brown rice, couscous (is not gluten-free), quinoa, sweet potatoes, as mentioned before is good for you. Also oatmeal.

Protein is also good. In the morning I add Garden of Life Super Seed and some whey protein to a smoothie. The whey protein has precursors to glutathione so is good for detox.

Eggs are a very simple way to get good protein.

I think your body is just signaling that you are not eating enough, that's why it's saying it's hungry all the time. The stuff you are eating is healthy, no doubt, it's just more like you're subsisting on snacks rather than meals. I was eating 3-4000 calories per day when I was sick to keep my weight up. Now I eat normally again.

Protein, yes more meat and eggs. Eat high protein snacks between 3 meals.

Protein drinks are quick and easy.

I use to eat lots of meats, tons of rice cakes and eggs every day for breakfast and that made no difference so now at 65 I look at food and its effect on my cholesterol cuz I know none of it effects my starvation.

This has been true for 10 years and for all 10 years usually after my evening meal the starvation calms down so I wondered if I took digestive enzymes to see if that would speed up absorbance and that had no effect either.

This is the same as my thyroid that all lab tests said was very low but I still had to wear a coat in July until I finally found a doc who looked at me and my symptoms and not the piece of lab paper and the thyroid meds do help so now I hope to be able to find that supplement that is suppose to calm down the hunger feeling and give it a try.

You might want to add your calories to make sure you are getting at least 1,500 or so a day.

There are several things that can cause one to be hungry all the time even though they are eating a fair amount of food. The three issues that I can think of are parasites (worms), blood sugar (diabetes) and thyroid.

I would check blood sugars throughout the day for awhile. My brother was hungry all the time and ate huge amounts of food and was very thin before he figured out how to control his blood sugar.

Have you had tests to ensure that your nutritional needs are being met? Testing for b12, folic acid, iron, vit d etc..

The other big concern is intesitnal parasites. Testing is not very accurate so you may have them even if you test negative. They can make you hungry all the time even though you are thin because they are sucking up all your nutrients. Same thing happens to dogs. They become very thin and hungry all the time while eating huge amounts of food.

That said, I'm not convinced that you are eating enough protein. People with lyme or other infections need extra protein and it needs to be balanced in order to get a proper balance of amino acids.

I have the opposite problem that you have. I am rarely hungry, eat very little and am overweight. What a fun disease.

Sofylyme, Have you tried a low carb diet ?
Carbs cause insulin surges which cause hunger.

I believe it shouldn't affect your cholesterol too much. It's definitely worth a try.

Well, wait no longer seek. I had this sypmtom for yrs. I ate huge amounts of food and didn't gain any weight.


And yes, it is a biggie symptom for having parasites. It would be VERY wise for everyone on this board to pay attention to the omnious problems they can cause.

They are literally eating us alive. You don't have to believe me, do the research and decide for yourself. A good place to start is

I was able to gain weight on amoxicillin , but im not sure if it was the amoxicillin that did it or the progesterone i was on at the time.....i gained 10lbs overnight....still had the excessive hunger though.


would parasites feed as you are eating, meaning...you feel hungry while you are eating? would you have a sunk in torso?

I could eat a huge amount of food (I am normally small framed and thin) and still feel like I never ate anything.


Not sure what you mean by a sunk in torso, but they eat what we eat. The idea is to make them as uncomfortable as possible by eating anything antiparasitic. You can google antiparasitic herbs and food.

Gael- sort of like... you can see my ribcage. i guess that is what i meant by sunken in...more on the sides..im allergic to pumpkin seeds(figures, right?)

the thing that puzzles me is how i was able to gain the weight back....and then lost it again when I had the severe hunger return. so odd.

I had a similar thing. What stage of Lyme are you at? And what treatment? If you're on oral abx, this inevitably will have a huce effect on you absorption of nutrients! Abx also affect metabolism greatly.

It was quite a bit of "trial and error" to get my system "back on track". I don't think there's any one "magic solution", but some things helped, including being assiduous about acidpphllus, as well as yarrow (tea made by boiling the yarrow in water.)
As for "starvation feeling",well, it was better than one of the the earlier problems I had from lyme etc. (nausea)
