Did he send it for biopsy? That's the only thing I can think of if he saved it. It seems like it should have been biopsied. If so, you should recommend they look for spirochetes/cysts or other microorganisms.

Igenex might test the tissue. I would call them and ask if they will, and if there is anything you need to know to have it sent to them.
Same with a lab called Clongen. They may test tissue too. I would call the lab and ask.
Both of those labs would be out of pocket though, I'd assume, so it's up to you.

I know they are looking but I don't know if they will see anything. A biopsy would tell them if it was active disease or old damage of some type.
