Self-Limiting Fourth and Sixth Cranial Nerve Palsy After Lyme Disease. [JOURNAL ARTICLE] Sharma V, Biswas S J Pediatr Ophthalmol Strabismus 2009 Jun 25.:1-3.
Lyme disease, or borreliosis, is caused by a bacteria (Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato and is transmitted to humans by the bite of ticks of the Ixodes genus. The authors describe a 16-year-old girl who presented with extraocular muscle palsies and had serology positive for Lyme disease. The muscle palsies resolved after antibiotic treatment with no residual limitation of ocular movements.

Hi Melanie,
Back in 2003 when I first started to get really sick I developed 6th nerve palsy of my right eye.
I'm sure glad it cleared up. Had to wear an eye patch so I could see one image instead of two.

Well Hello my friend! So nice to see you again. Yes, I have another dear friend in Seattle who is dealing with this currently. Grew up on the east coast, father was a vet, landscape business for years...
Finally, with a tiny bit of prodding from me, she was diagnosed with LD and Bart a few months ago and is undergoing treatment. Her last report was that the eye was improving!
I'm so pleased you BOTH have a success story!
