Hi <<<<< Lyme-r Family >>>>>,
TxC's knee is worsening, even w/ the change in meds and pain killers.
He is supposed to take the three hour drive[he isn't driving, VA van will take him] to the VA hospital on Friday.
The pain spasm-ing and swelling has worsened in the knee joint to the point the EMTs came last night to help him get up from the recliner
...and back to the bedroom [he cannot sleep long term on recliner couch, because of back pain issues].
We've added Turmeric to help stop the swelling and inflammation, along w/ the new meds the doctors prescribed.
Also alternating ice and heat on the knee, to see if he can actually get out of bed... if he cannot?? I guess we'll be calling his Drs.at *VA clinic and probably a trip to a local hospital ??
*They are paying so it is up to them how to work this.
At this stage any ideas of what may help ease this mess are welcome...sorry for the lenght of thread on Med Q' board.

See if your LLMD/Reg. MD can prescribe a tube of Voltaren Gel. It is a topical NSAID anti-inflammatory. By bypassing the stomach/GI tract, you can apply it topically wherever necessary without risking stomach upset.
Ask either MD if it is contra-indicated with any other meds your TxC's currently taking.I use it for neck pain and subsequent shoulder muscle spasm-it does the trick for me...

Thanks for the idea!!! While we don't have an LLMD at this time, his VA Dr. probably could prescribe this!!!
I appreciate your taking the time to reply so much!!!
