I know everyone has a bunch of information about how lyme should be treated. I am headed to a dr for a second opinion on treatment, my first dr would only do 10 days of amoxy for a recent tick bite and bullseye rash. I would really like to follow the guidelines and get at least 6 weeks of meds. I want to take with me documentation that says that is the best course of treatment. I have the ILADS guidelines printed off, what other documents are credible sources that I can print off and take with me? Thanks!
BTW if you are going to suggest going to an LLMD- I talked to the LLMD in the area and he does not do antibiotics which I feel is the best course of action for me right now.

All I can say is that if you are going to follow the IDSA guidelines......Good luck! Following those guidelines is why most of us are so sick now and have had our lives ruined.
Also, I never heard of a LLMD not using antibiotics. Must not be a ILADS LLMD.

I dont understand why you say that-according to the ILSDA guidelines Im looking at it says 6 weeks of antibiotics which is what everyone on here has been telling me too. Is there something Im missing? What guidelines should I be following???
This is the quote from the guidlines that describes the treatement for what I have as symptoms: EARLY LOCALIZED - Single erythema migrans with no constitutional symptoms: 1) Adults: oral therapy- must continue until symptom and sign free for at least one month, with a 6 week minimum.

Littlelady,
Southerngrl misread what you wrote...in her post to you, she says IDSA not ILADS...she was thinking you are following IDSA.
You are correct in that ILADS does indeed say 6 weeks!
Good for you for following that! I don't have any further help for you..but I also don't know of an LLMD who doesn't use abx...ESPECIALLY when first bitten!
If worst comes to worst...I know other people on here have ordered meds online, some have even used veterinary meds...I don't know if I could trust an online drug company...but many have said that they are fine!

Got it! I really couldn't believe that the LLMD wouldn't do abx either, but it was someone who was recommended from this site and has written a few books on Lyme so I was pretty surprised. They wouldn't get me in touch with any other drs in the area that were familiar with Lyme so Im just going to try another primary care dr that is supposedly pretty open and understanding according to some friends who recommended the dr. But thats why I want all the documentation I can bring to back me up. If they dont agree to further treatment we'll be turning to family members-my husband's aunt is a pain management dr and Im sure would be more than willing to help in whatever way she can. It would just be nice to have a dr I can check in with in town.
