Hello Everyone. Couple days ago I shared here about how badly my eyes were burning and becoming more and more blurry. Today I decided to see my eye doctor and have my eyes checked.

The eye doctor found that I had inflammation in my eyes and that they were extremely dry. He gave me some lubricant drops to help keep them moist and also prescribed some steroid drops for me to take.

I told him that I would be very leery of taking any steroids in my eyes until I have my LLMD approval. He said he'd be glad to call him and get his input if I wanted. I did, and he did and the LLMD said it would be fine to take the steroid drops for the eye inflammation.

My LLMD is good but he's not been treating Lyme patients for that long of a time yet. I'm hoping he's right that taking steroid drops won't be harmful to me. It's not that I don't trust my LLMD, but as the old saying goes, "trust but verify".

Have any of you folks been treated for eye inflammation with steroid drops? Did you have any reaction to it or did it help you to get better?

I look forward to hearing more about this before I start putting the drops in tonight. I did start the lubricant and moisturizer drops already and it's helped my eyes to feel so much better already.

Gary

In my experience, those kind of steroidal drops are OK, plus one cannot play around with their eyes.

I never had a problem taking them and I was prescribed them by an LL eye doc.

Abxnomore, glad to know you didn't have any problems with them. I'm still somewhat hesitant to take them but it helps knowing that someone else had this and didn't have any problems with it.

Thanks for sharing!

Gary

I was hesitant at first too but inflammation of the eye is not a good thing. Hopefully it will clear up fast. Did the eye doc say why she thinks you have it. It's most probably coming from the lyme.

Is it possible glaucoma? Did you have a visual field? These are test that might be recommended on your follow up visit.

I took them for many months, as a matter of fact. My LLMD was OK with it too. It was necessary in my case.

My eye doctor is not Lyme literate but he did say that from what little he knows of it, it's possible it's from the Lyme. He also said it could be a sign of something else going on in the body that's causing it. I suspect it's the lyme too.

He said he sees this quite frequently and sometimes it's just related to aging. No glaucoma. Not sure what a visual field is but he was quite thorough and didn't feel this would turn into anything serious if I used the drops.

I appreciate the fact that he called the Lyme doctor to get his approval on giving me steroid drops. I appreciate your input. It helps me feel a little bit better about going ahead and taking the drops.

Thanks much!

Gary
