How quickly did it happen once on a new antibiotic?
What were your symptoms?
How often did they occur?
When did they subside?

About 2 weeks after starting doxy/plaquenil I got a flu-like fatigue lasting 2 weeks.
Had some increased joint and muscle pain with Mepron.
Nothing was that bad considering what I feel like everyday.

I have felt so crappy with LD, that it was always hard to tell if I was herxing or not.
When I started feeling better about a year or so into treatment, it seemed like I started noticing either flare ups or herxing on a 3 to 5 week cycle. But still not sure if it was a herx or not. I would feel crappy all the time, then suddenly I would feel double crappy!
Some ppl are lucky enough to have a very distint herxheimer, which I think would be awesome. At least you would know for sure what you are dealing with. Some ppl never herx.
Just as an average, I would say it might take 2 weeks to start to herx. My doc is one that believes the actual herx only last for a few days. Although other docs have different opinions. I guess if you detox well, a herx could only last a few days.
My opinion is that the medication might just make you feel bad, just because its a man made chemical that we are loading our body up with day after day. How could you not feel bad!
Then you have ppl that just feel better and better. So its really hard to get a good answer to this question.

It's very difficult sometimes to tell where your symptoms from LD and co-infections end and herx begins. My herxes often take the form of just more and worse symptoms than I was experiencing before taking abx.
It also depends on how good your elimination pathways are. A very healthy person (other than infections) with a healthy liver may kills lots of pathogens without experiencing a herx because his/her liver is dealing effectively with the toxins. That's why it varies greatly from person to person, and no one should worry excessively if they don't have a major herx.

Have been on IV Rocephin for 5 days. End of second day, similar symptoms as Notz - pain and tightness in throat, neck and shoulders (upper back). Have increased to include sore jaw, earaches, severe headaches, and fatigue....all much like when my lyme first showed itself. I'm anxiously awaiting feeling back to my old lyme self and finally better.
