My 6 year old niece who spends a great deal of time with me was recetly diagnosed with lyme.
Her case seems some what mild. Regardless, she is in treatment and doing quite well.
She has gi problems which we always thought was a lyme symptom.
I've noticed this child will take toilet paper and suck on it.
I'm very concered as to what this might do to her GI track. She seems to have a problem with parasites also. Her LLMD attributes that to her out of country travel.
I've mentioned this to my sister but she doesn't seem to concered. Could this be contributing to her parasite issue? Obviously this would have to affect her gi problems.

Does she try to ingest other non-edible items?
Pica?
Google it and let me know what you think.

Yes, I was thinking pica too, Geneal. It also might be related to the GI issues, as sometimes the stomach just feels better when something's in it.
You might try giving her something that she likes but will take a long time to work on, like a piece of ice on a popsicle stick, or a stalk of celery.
Hope she continues to feel better,
Shaz

My daughter chews on things when her belly aches. So, they could be related. I think it is like a stress reliever.

This reminded me of an episode on Tyra Banks of a woman who would eat toilet paper, sometimes more than one roll a day.
Sorry I don't have anything better to offer about suggestions/information.

We had a child in area a few years back lost part
of her bowels because she ate her hair all the
time. It bound her and almost killed her. It is not
just a nuisance. But she did quit eating her hair.
