I need to find a non-Igenex (in other words a lab that accepts regular insurance) that runs the WA-1 IgM portion. LabCorp does the IgG portion. Quest doesn't have it on their website. MDL only shows a WA-1 PCR test.
Why on earth isn't there an IgM portion to this infection? My ID doc wants to do it, but he asked me to find the lab. My IgG was above the cutoff level (1:256). >= 1:256 is positive, but that doesn't necessarily mean acute infection. I read 1:1,024 is indicative of this.

The sun WILL come up tomorrow.
I don't have a test to prove it... but I'll bet the farm it will.

Sonoma County Public Health Lab does a titer for babesia duncani. I don't think mine was labelled IgG or IgM, it just came back with a result, like 1:512.
If you want me to check if it said IgM or not, I can go check....but I am fairly certain neither was specified.
As far as I understand it, with these titers, there may be some cross-reactions going on between the types of babesia, so my guess is WA-1 and duncani are probably similar and will both test positive. That's the hope.
