I got sick with Ehrichiosis in June, high fever etc, was treated with one month Doxycycline. The fever went right away, but I have been having mild symptoms which I wonder about. It seems like my immune system isn't working so well- a stubborn infection on my nail, more prone to aches and pains in joints, a hot inflamed place on shin (my non-Lyme literate M.D. said cellulitis) a few swollen joints, worsening of a chronic stomach problem. I've had Lyme a number of times, including undiagnosed for a year and a half, and I have NEVER had swelling of a joint. My joints don't even swell when I injure them. I also don't get "cellulitis", except once when I had Lyme. So I'm wondering, is this a co-infection which wasn't susceptible to Doxycycline, or has my immune system been rearranged by 5 days of high fever? (I also never get fevers).
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Also, my first symptom when I got sick was one day of poor balance, the next day of brain not working, and then getting really sick.

Thanks in advance to anyone who replies-

Otto

If you were treated with doxy for only a month, then that wasn't enough treatment to get rid of lyme.

Sure it is possible that you may have co-infections. Were you ever tested for them?

You mention having had lyme a number of times.

Were you ever treated by an LLMD?

Your symptoms sound very much like lyme is still there.

I would guess that many of your symptoms are from chronic lyme, which appears to have not been treated properly. Actually, ehrlichiosis is a coinfection of lyme from what I understand.

Dr. B in his guidelines (Advanced Topics in Lyme Disease) states and those with chronic lyme ALL have coinfections. Just a guess, but might have bartonella, as it can cause stomach issues as well as brain fog and low grade fevers. Lyme can also cause the brain fog though.

I would strongly recommend getting to a LLMD for proper testing, diagnosis and treatment.

The cellulitis makes me go "hmmmm".
My son was diagnosed with Cellulitis on his knee when he was only 2 yrs old. He recently tested CDC+ for Lyme and they think he also has Bartonella.

You didn't say what the dose of doxy was or if you were retested to prove the ehrlichia is gone.

It is possible that you have both chronic ehrlichia and chronic Lyme. Also need to rule out candida (yeast) as cause of the G.I. and maybe joint problems.

Please see an LLMD for an evaluation.

You might need to add a 2nd med such as Rifampin for the ehrlichia.
