Okay,I cannot eat anything w/Oats/Aveenan at all... severe severe allergy[ I carry an epi-pen].

I have to be watchful because of a penicillan allergy also severe [very careful of chesse selections].

Beginning to feel like I'm gonna have to do straight 'Nirvana Diet' you know...green beans and water leading to teh perfect state of nothingness...

[er...that was a joke.] [Smile] ...laughing dosn't hurt my sinuses like cryin' do!!!

I have to be very careful gluten isn't good for me either.[ I'm on a 'gluten reduced' diet because it makes me miserable otherwise, and working slowly to eliminate all glutens.].

Most of the supplements I take, they try to avoid glutens and sugar [tho' a couple use honey].

Most sugar less foods, that may taste good, have 'fake sugars' in them, and I know many are not real great for us either.

My blood sugars are being aggravating...and annoying. They go down real nice for awhile and the w/o warning they hit like 242...

I deigned to dare to eat a bit of Chinese food today, too sugary obviously. Often tho' I simply have some veggies and a bit of chicken,or beef...

Does everything have sugar, bad cholestrol sticky goo builders or gluten in it almost???

There has to be something non-gluten non-aveenan[oats] ,that's inexpensive and easy to cook...and wont cause IBS issues.

My balance goes crazy lately anyway, and I don't need high blood sugars to help that issues along...

Said in my best Wolfish vocalizations... help, help OhelpooOWHooooOOOwOOOWooooooow

Just Silverwolfi...trying to quiet my grumbly tummy ... and feeling spacey from the anti-inflammatory [I want may brain back...].

When you say sugar substitutes taste bad, are you including Xylitol? I've ordered some, i have hopes for it.

This person i'm quoting from the Buhner forum recommends a gluten free cookbook by Bette Hagman:

QUOTE
quit eating flour and started making my own bread cuz that rice bread at the store tastes like sponge lol. I use both xantham gum and guar gum in baking. I buy them at the health food store or at the local chinese grocery....no need to buy it off the internet.

Both guar gum and xantham gum can be used as a replacement for gluten when baking without wheat flour (Bette Hagmans book, great edible recipes lol}. Gluten is that gummy stuff in what flour that holds the bread together.

If you look at the premade sauces and dressings in your fridge it is quite likely that you will see one or both of these ingredients listed on the label of at least one item.
I can't remember which of these two it is....but one of them act as a slight laxative as well.

I wish I could take credit for thinking up the guar gum/xantham gum baking secret but I can't.

After buying several gluten-free cookbooks I finally came across a gem. It is called "The Gluten Free Gourmet Bakes Bread" by Bette Hagman. It is well worth it to buy this cookbook if you are not afraid of some of the strange ingredients such as xantham gum etc. It contains recipes that are gluten-free, some that are yeast free, dairy free etc and contains info about all the different types of flour too.

The breads are actually really delicious. I made a loaf of the Oregon Bread when my family was visiting and they devoured it...all.... in one sitting. I then sent my mom home with the recipe lol.
UNQUOTE

There are varous supplements to reduce cholesterol. Have you tried Niacin? (just plain niacin, NOT the NO-flush kind, it doesn't work). Have you tried Policosanol?

There are supplements to lower blood sugar,; have you tried gymnema sylvestre or fenugreek? There are others too.

Hi <<<<< pamoisondelune >>>>>,

Thanks for the info',I have been using cinnamon veram to help cope w/ my blood sugar[it suddenly, keeps sneaking up, after having some nice calm numbers for awhile].

[I also take Metformin, you have to take most supplements about 3 to 4 hours after Metformin,so I usually do my supplements etc, at lunch, Metformin morning meal.]

I'll check into some of the other supplements mentioned in your reply!!!

As to sugar substitutes, I didn't say they taste bad, I said many are not good for us...
guess I'm clear as mud today!!!

I'm having to take anti-inflammatory meds and muscle relaxants, and it just adds issues to the brain fog soup I already experience.

I didn't realize that fenugreek was a help to keep blood sugars down.

I have some info' bookmarked on the diabetes...blood sugars. But, finding simple to fix,day to day meals that aren't overly expensive is frustrating...

I have to either move around while standing, or sit down [to keep my back from going out]...making trying to cook interesting to say the least.A recent accident and then re-injury has made this worse.

Thanks again for the info'!!!

Jus' Silverwolfi here!

Oops, spacey Silverwolfi' here...

I've not had Xyletol except in Trident gum.

I have been trying Stevia, and I like it so far!!!

If stuff is prepackaged tho',like already baked up cookies it is hard to find sugarless that isn't harmful [like Aspartame isn't good for us].

And it is hard for me to cook things because of physical limitations.

My dad is diabetic and he cannot have Splenda,he gets ill from it.

Okay,I'll check back later...but I wont guarantee my brain will have come out of the foggy mists it's been hiding in... [Smile] Oy !!!

Just Silverwolfi slipping and sliding thru teh fog!

Hey wolfie,

vitacost carries a gluten free line of pasta made with either brown or white rice which are very good in my opinion. They also have some onion flavoired gluten free crackers that are good.

They have something called 'Raw Bars' that are a bit pricey, but taste very good. The sweetner used is Agave and approved for diabetics.

Also xylitol gum and mints that are awesome..the brand name is SPRY.

Otherwise, chicken, lean meats, and veggies....

I don't know of any prepackaged meals. If you have a Whole Foods near you, you will probably be able to find a lot there.

I believe muscle relaxants can cause high blood sugars.

Our diets are based on rice. Rice, rice cakes, rice bread, rice cereal..plus veggies and meat, fish, poultry, beans or lentils, and also fruit of course.

For blood sugars, brown rice is much better than white of course, and if you mix rice with protein or fat,the effect on blood sugars is gentler and more spread out.

Am assuming you are not on steroids, which triple blood sugars!

<<<<< Feelfit and Shosty >>>>>,

Hi thanks for teh info',I will check on these things.

I was reading some more on High blood sugars and it seems even a minor infection or, injury can make it spike.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out the relaxants can cause a spike too.I appreciate all the info'!!!

And no not on steroids, not unless I ever have to to breathe!!!

I am also going to check at the S.E. Idaho state fair,if we can get there before it closes this week, Tho' we may need to rent a wheel chair.

Often times they have booths for health issues!!!

Thanks a gain to each replier!!!

Silver, you may want to take a look at www.allergie-immun.de click on English
and also read the thread on this board entitled
Allergie Immun Germany. There you can follow some of the people who are on the AI therapy.

Take care.

Here's a pill for you that might solve your problems if it works as claimed, but you'd have to ask your diabetes doctor:

"Metabolic Defense"
Econugenics brand "Metabolic Defense" 90Vcap

sold at iherb.com and other sites.

This is recommended by the internet nutrition expert Dr Nan Kathryn Fuchs. It contains 20 blood-sugar stabilizing herbals. It's about $35+.
She recommends good stuff for general problems like yours; you should look her up.

PS I know you said sugarfree substitute foods (presumably taste good) but aren't healthy for us (aspartame etc), but i expanded that, unwarranted, to the converse that sugarfree foods that are good for us like stevia don't taste good, which is my experience but not what you said, i know; i've only tried stevia a few times and didn't find it sweet, so maybe i didn't use enough. I'm hoping Xylitol will be sweet and functional.

<<<<< GiGi and pamoisondelune/Polly' >>>>>,

Thanks for the info' and thread to look up!!!

Pam'Polly [Smile] , I get it now...!!!

Let me know how the xlyitol does... I have to use 2 Stevia packets to get enough sweetness for my tea/coffee etc.

I greatly appreciate ,each one who replies...this problem has me bugged right now!!!

You know I've always wanted to go traveling and Germany is one place I'd enjoy going...TxC has relatives there [tho' we've never met them]...and I have relatives in Britain, maybe in Germany too?!!!

Finances are our main issue...

Well I'm gonna look at some of this info' and see what we can come up w/!!!

Thanks again...

Silver, The fortunate thing for many of us is that we don't need to travel to Germany for AI.
A 98cent stamped envelope gets your saliva sample there and the rest of the info you can get on their website or the thread that is puttering along here. It's quite exciting when slowly an off blood pressure starts to move toward normal without any medicine -- simply with a few drops of energized water - informed water; or a stuffed sinus starts to clear; or an exzema starts to fade away..... or a back pain is no longer

Take care.

<<<<< GiGi >>>>>,

Thanks for the info', I was noticing on the topic thread that most were ordering stuff, rather than going to Germany.[ the stamp price doesn't seem to bad either...thank You!!! [Smile] ]!!!

Still someday...it would be nice to be able to go to Europe!!! And feel well enough to actually explore a little!!!

I'm gonna show the info' to TxC' as well!!!

Thanks again!!!

hi bonny,

fyi, those gluten free flours .... gum, etc. are expensive for a SMALL package in my opinion.

that's what i hate the most about being allergic to gluten/wheat and dairy things ... they are normally twice to triple the prices and those i have tasted were god awful.

but best wishes; i eat lots of fruits, veggies, beef, chicken, and air POPCORN w/small amount of butter & salt!! yummy; that's what i have when i get off here late at night! [Smile]

Eat everything "Fresh" that you possibly can.

If your doctor says this is okay:

DETOX COCKTAIL

1) a heaping teaspoon of Vitamin C Powder (pure ascorbic acid powder)

2) 300-600 milligrams of Lipoic Acid (aka thioctic acid)

3) 400-800 mg of glutathione (avoid the ones made from potatoe-night shade family if you are sensitive) vegitable Polysaccharide types are easiest to digest.

Break open capsules and dump Lipoic Acid and glutathione with the vit.C in your 16 oz. water bottle (I like cold water best) and shake up. Drink it down. Drink plenty of water during the day.

Try this for a week - then add
4) glycine 500 mg. to rid you of sweet cravings.
you can increase this to 2-500 mg. caps.

This will get your body in shape to strengthen your immune system and rid yourself of toxins.

This is from the book : Detoxify or Die
They say you will feel better a half hour after drinking it. I felt better on the second day.

You can have this "cocktail" 1-2 times a day.
It doesn't taste all that bad either.

Best wishes,
peedie

<<<<< Betty' and Peedie >>>>>,

Thanks for the info' and good wishes!!!

I do a lot of fresh veggies whenever we can get them [ hopefully the little farmers markets will stay open for a couple more weekends too w/ Harvest time].

We do some fresh fruits too,and both TxC and I enjoy popcorn!!! We are headed to the SE Idaho State fair this evening after TxC gets off work [we may rent a wheelchair,if there are still some available].

Will get a bit of supper while there...and check out some of the booths for health, and good foods, among other things we are looking for! Tonight is just quick scouting of booths and relaxing.

If we can we'll go back Saturday, for end of fair sales...we've gotten some good bargains doing that!!!

I'm hoping there will be some gluten free sort of things this year too...we'll be looking for bargains!!!

'Our' big Fair here,is still really reasonably priced too, like about 5 and a half dollars per person!

Usually we get free tickets for a day,but TxC' isn't doing free stage this year [most years he sings, plays guitar, and tells funny stories and jokes {suitable for family viewing }].

There are booths where one can get freshly squeezed lemonade, delightful and detoxing...and then we get a good tall filtered water, and off we go.

We are also looking for some good small storage buildings/sheds. Have to get some of our 'treasures stowed...

falling over things, doesn't help stress levels [boxes fell when I tripped overheat register last Saturday a.m.].

Each replier, am so grateful, for your responses... and have been researching...y'all are a great help...Thanks so much for the info' and ideas!!!

Jus' Bonny Silverwolfi wandering along [carefully]
