I didn't test clearly positive on the Igenex test....I'd had Lyme for 42 yrs and my immune system was severely depressed.
I don't know if I had STARI or not. Hope this helps.

I think I have the stari strain or Masters. I don't
know if it is just immunocompromised as to what is
being seen as my first test only showed one band.
Second test was only Igenex positive after
challenge. So I would say there are many factors
to be considered with this one. Such as length of
illness. Treatment or challenge before testing.
And the individual who is being tested may have
other infectious loads such as virus'...

My daughter was infected in TX. Her first LLMD was in the midwest and believed she had STARI.
She tested IGeneX positive on her first test.
Her Lyme symptoms are only neurological. I do remember about 4 - 6 months after she was infected, she complained about various body parts hurting. I remember her ankle especially so she may have had joint pain early on.

IgeneX does include stari in it's Western Blot.
I was bit in N. Carolina, but only have band 41.

Lone star ticks are in MOST states,NOT just Texas.
Charlie finds them everywhere he goes!!!
MORE hogwash its a Texas tick and problem ONLY!!!

I agree don. It is not just a tick problem. It is a host problem as well. I don't think it matters which tick it is if the host has it that tick will ingest it in the blood.

The Amblyomma americanum (Lone Star) tick carries many more diseases other than STARI too.

lone star ticks are also found freq in missorri, yes they are here in tx- but we see lots of deer and dog ticks
lone star ticks are aggressive and they seek you out. will travel to warm, blood source
we (southern tx) have had a horrible tick season this year, mesquitos too
what is diff from STARI and lyme ???? i have mosty neruo and bad immune system.
really not sure if did have auto-immune issue first, or was lyme then ??? idk, i DO know has weird rash on leg after trying to clear lots of brush / leaves over 3yr ago and knee pain was primary thing after that...then fell apart
anyone have any insight on that???

Southern Tick Associated Rash Illness (STARI) or Masters' disease is caused by Borellia lonestari... Lyme disease by Borellia burgdorferi.
Both Borellia diseases present almost identically... and many, including Ed Masters himself, believed them to be one in the same.
