Apparently NONE of my local (regular or compounding) pharmacies carry the 2 gram vials for intramuscular injection. I have made many phone calls and am getting frustrated.
Can anyone recommend where I could get this Rx filled- online, a pharmacy that does mail delivery, etc?
Thanks, dawn

My local CVS was willing to order the vials for me. It only took a day or two for them to get it in and have it ready for pick-up.
Pharmacies usually do not have ceftriaxone in stock (not many people use it regularly) but can easily order it from their supplier.
So talk with your regular pharmacy. If you give them the script they should be able to take care of it.

Also be sure to check Costco, Target, or Walmart. They often are substantially cheaper than drug stores. (Target was $100 cheaper per box of Bicillin when I called around!)
Like Sammy said, they won't have it in stock, but they should be able to order it.

Costco was where I got mine. They had to order it. They said I was the only one to ever present a prescription for it.

Rite-Aid and CVS both said they would not be able to order it (although I have no idea why...). Same with several "local" (not nat'l chains) pharmacies.
Terry, do you know if you have to be a member of Costco to use their pharmacy? I assume so... right?
Good sugg, Anna. I totally forgot about Walmart and Target! Duh!
Now that we have access to the generic, I hope it won't be crazy expensive.
Thanks a lot everyone.

In Washington state, you do NOT have to be a Costco member to use the pharmacy. I'm not sure if it's different in other states...

no, costco's pharmacy is different than the rest of COstco's store, so you never need a membership. It's usually cheaper than CVS etc.

I'm a member but my understanding is the same as Maria's and AnnaL - you don't need to be a member to use their pharmacy.

If a large chain pharmacy will not work with you maybe a smaller locally owned pharmacy will.
And I can't believe that your CVS won't order it for you. Mine did so I know yours can too.
Another thing to consider, are you buying the Rocephin vials out of pocket or will your insurance cover part of the cost? If you have to pay out of pocket consider contacting Infuserve.
I purchase my IV Rocephin and supplies through Infuserve. You can check out their website http://www.infuserveamerica.com/ or call 1-800-886-9222. They might be able to help you get the medication and supplies cheaper than if you purchase them separately at retail stores.
