Just wondering if I'll be able to get back to treatment when this is cleared up. Abyone done this?

Also, how did you clear your c diff? I did 10 days of tindamax and been off now for two days. I think symptoms might be returning.

thanks

I had c. diff for 11 (long) months. I eventually did clear it using 2 weeks of high dose oral vanco, followed by two weeks of rifaximin. It's called the Rifaximin Chaser.

I am back on antibiotics as well as antivirals.

Best, Timaca

Hey blinkie, tell your doc the symptoms are returning. I did the 10 day protocol too, and it came back several times.

We finally did a 3 month protocol of oral vancomycin, and have actually had to stretch it to 5 mos.

Are you taking your probiotics and s. bourlardii too? I hope so!

When it's time to go back to abx, maybe you can pulse them or add in tindamax (good cyst buster - bonus!) to keep the c. diff chances down.

Hope it's all clearing up!

I also sencond the suggestion on S. boulardii.

There are some good studies on it for C. difficile if you do a search.

My SIL had to treat several times (and she's not a Lymie and was only on short term ABX but she took them after a colonoscopy).

At first her dr. had her take Culturelle but now she's on Florastor. She's been symptom free for many months but will continue with the Florastor.

Once you get c.diff, you really have to be careful with ANY antibiotic EVER again. It usually brings a halt to your Lyme and co-infection treatment and you cannot use the antibiotics for a long time, if ever again.

Any of you on antibiotics should be on s.boulardii(Florastor) to prevent c.diff!!

C.diff has a VERY high relapse rate so make sure you stay on the FLagyl or Vancomycin long enough! If you get symptoms when you stop those, get yourself back on them and to a good GI doctor.

Here's an article On c.diff.

No c-dif experience but Florastor worked wonders w/ major GI problem. Rated very highly by others on this site: http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=208801&catid=98037

Thanks Timaca. Good to know I should be ok to take abx again in the future, maybe with a pulse of flagyl or something.

I am taking my boulardii still as well.
