I pay 225 for a phone consult with my LLMD. He's doubling my mepron after i try a 3 day course of Coartem. I'm excited that this may put my babesia away for good. I'm also taking zithromax. The problem is he wants to put me on Rifampin, and we both know this will affect my Mepron concentrations. At 800 bucks a bottle - i don't want anything affecting my Atvq. concentrations.
Two questions... whats a good bart drug that won't affect my mepron levels?
What do you do when you question your doctor? I want to optimize my treatment at all times, and dont want wishy washy protocols. Do i move on? Do i just tell him what i want? I want to go full blast with med treatments and he seems to be pussy footing.

Is your LLMD in NY? I ran Mep with Rifampin as well. Perhaps he has a good reason to do this. Maybe he wants to hit everything, especially if there's the possibility that Bart is flying under the radar...
I ran Mep, Rifampin, Omnicef, Levaquin...all together...

While it probably is not the ideal combo, one of my twin 5 year old boys is taking Rifampin with Mepron and is making great progress on it. Dr. J in CT prescribed it.
My boy had tried bactrim with Mepron but his bart symptoms got worse. The Rifampin has been wonderful.
My other two children have helped their bart symptoms with bactrim. Bactrim does not interfere with Mepron, and my kids took it together.
So, I think the combo would be worth a try. I guess my only question is whether you tried bactrim first for the bart? You might just ask your LLMD why he chose rifampin over bactrim and if he has had a lot of success with the rif/mepron combo. I don't think that combo is pussy footing at all.
I always have tons of questions for my docs. I do not hesitate to ask them about potential interactions if I have heard about them. If the LLMD gives me a good explanation, then I am satisfied.
