With that & symptoms of a heart attack, you're still here typing????
I don't care if you want to go or not, get your behind over there young lady!!!!
You can tell us how much it s*cked & what a waste of time it was later. Better safe than sorry.
How long have you had the PICC in?NO DON'T ANSWER THAT - JUST GO!!!!
Better they should irritate, annoy & belittle you, than take a chance. I say go rule it out!

What is your temperature?
Measure your heart rate for 60 seconds.
Blood pressure?
Is your color good? Lips blue?
Are you sweating? Getting enough fluids?

Temp is 99.5, Color a little pale, heart rate 120, didn't check bp, no blue lips, some sweating off and on.
Tightness across chest, short of breath, Blake just got home, leaving now.
BTW that was the "High Sensitivity CRP" test, not the general one, that measures cardiac/stroke risk.

Cough a lot, I've heard that coughing your way to the ER can save you if you're having a heart attack.
I'm glad you're going. Let us know how you make out!
I hope it's nothing & I'm saying a prayer that I've yelled at you for no reason.
hugs & prayers,
Ali

I know that the ER is a hassle (and that's understatement) but it's best to be sorry or a little embarrassed if something really is wrong with you.
I would go, just to make sure. And Good Lord, we knows what a hassle that is. Will anyone come with you??????????
Oh yeah, take an aspirin and coughing the whole weigh there helps I read.

Home from the ER, all is well. I had a chest xray, EKG, spiral CT scan of my chest (D-Dimer was high, which can be indicative of a pulmonary embolism), lots of bloodwork, IV fluids, IV morphine, IV anti nausea meds.....ended up in anaphylaxis from the morphine, so then IV Benadryl.
Finally home. It's just the Lyme.....but you never know unless you get it checked!

Hey, a pulmonary embolism's nothing to sneeze at either.
I'm glad you survived the ER, sorry you had to go through so much torture & glad that you came back & posted quickly so we didn't have to keep worrying about you.
Are you feeling any better after all that? Did the pain & dizziness subside?

Wow Tracy, it sounds like there is never a dull day in your household. Anaphylaxis for you, your kid, and more. I really hope in the long run your treatment pays off and you restore your health. Glad you're OK.

Sorry this happed Tracy. I am allergic to Morphine and demerol and derivatives. So I know how you feel. Did you get the hives too? I once got a bp of 60/40 before they realized what was going on. They was running all over the place. From then on I knew.

You just started claforan, known to cause major herx. I think this may be the cause of your symptoms.
I had a "heart herx" on another drug and went to the ER, where of course they thought I was nuts and couldn't find anything, never heard of a herx.

Tracy you need a break, wow. What does your LLMD have to say about the PICC line in and the blood clotting issue? Anytime you get a fever with a PICC line too, get it checked out and have cultures drawn from the PICC line and from the other arm to test for sepsis. It's worth the precaution, it may or not be, but you can never be too sure.

I am exhausted today, but no chest pain, no shortness of breath, still a little cough and junky in my chest from the anaphylaxis.
I did not get hives, what I got was a bright red sunburn like rash all over my chest and face, my nose swelled up like I had a cold and couldn't breathe through it, my chest felt tight like I imagine it feels to have asthma, hard to get air in, I was coughing like I suddenly had bronchitis, and my voice suddenly became extremely hoarse.
I didn't say anything for over an hour because I had no idea what was causing it.....I thought, I just had a chest xray and CT scan, what could possibly be wrong with my chest? Then as it got harder and harder to breathe I suddenly remembered Cody's words when he had the anaphylactic shock a couple of months ago, that he was having trouble getting air in...and I knew what was happening.
Turns out, after a little googling, Morphine is one of the most common drugs that cause this.
I am supposed to start 1 mg of Coumadin a day to avoid clots, due to the clotting history and clotting disorder, just waiting to get blood drawn to start that.
No major herx as of yet! My main concern last night in going to the ER was just as the home nurse had said, that perhaps the PICC had migrated a bit into my heart and needed to be pulled back a little, but it was fine.
I am exhausted today and in bed, a little achey, kind of my usual bad day....probably the herx is starting....don't know yet. About to infuse.
