I have a script for Mepron and I am hesitant to start it. I was on it for 3 weeks last december and my LLMD recommends I do it for one more round.
I am working again (teacher) and am afraid of the herx, and was thinking of pulsing it. Maybe I would herx a bit less.
Any input? Is this one of those abx that can be pulsed? Thanks.

Mepron isn't an abx. I would definitely discuss this with your LLMD - not just here.

I don't think it would work properly pulsing it. I agree that you need to speak with your doctor.

I would talk to your LLMD for the final decision but this is what I did. My LLMD told me I could ramp up the dose - start at 1/4 tsp twice a day for 10 days, then go to 1/2 tsp and so on.
I took Zithromax at 250mg once a day and was to go too 500mg once I reached the full dose of Mepron.
It did sort of make it more tolerable. Unfortunately, I may be allergic to it so I had to stop before reaching the full dose.
Good luck to you.

Thanks for the advice...I knew it wasn't like the other meds (abx) so I thought maybe it would have to be taken consistently...I will call my LLMD.
I forgot that it isn't an antibiotic at all. Maybe I can start as a lower dose like opus said - instead of starting at a full teaspoon.

It's not an abx? It's an antiprotozoal, I would consider that an abx. Just like flagyl.
Mepron's effectiveness depends on constant blood concentration levels. Therefore, pulsing isn't a good idea. You can find this in Dr B's treatment guidelines.
