I know this is a risk of IV Claforan. I know some people on here have gotten it. I've read that with a fever of 100.5 and fatigue, etc one should go to the ER to have their WBC checked and see if they have Neutropenic Fever.
I tried googling it, but it all seems related to cancer and I'm having trouble sorting through it.
I am on about two weeks now of IV Claforan and in the last two hours my temp went from 97.8 to 100, I'm extremely fatigued x 3 days to the point where I can't get out of bed and am sleeping all the time.
I wasn't concerned about the fatigue, but I was just thinking to myself earlier, wow, the Malarone sure worked better for me than the Mepron, because my fevers and sweats are sure resolving. Then I felt that headachey/feverish feeling and sure enough had a 100 degree fever quite suddenly.
Could be nothing; but I am just wondering if anyone could shed some light or some more information on what neutropenic fever is all about?

Also, my white blood count was 6.5 last Tuesday, and 5.2 on Saturday. I will find out tomorrow was it was today. I'm a bit concerned with the downward trend, the way I feel, and the rising temp.

Just bumping up for Tracy hoping she can get replies. I don't know the answer, but as I said in my previous post I'm very concerned with all the adverse reactions you have to IV Abx. There has to be something else to try. Being so sick and not be able to get out of bed for a week straight seems very wrong.
Another huge concern I'd have is the insurer just pulling the treatment plug entirely given the repeated incidents and the risk level. Then things would be even worse. I understand sometimes we have no choices and you certainly know your situation better than anyone. Think hard about it. You only get so many chances.
