Hi All-

Okay the past two days I have been getting this HIVE like rash on my arms and on my wasit and on my legs basically where heat is. however its not as welty (if thats a word) as a hive and I only have a few of them. I wake up at 2 am with them then by the time I wake up most are gone but by 10am they are gone.

Then I go to bed I am fine and wake up with them.

This happened the past 2nights my LLMD thinks it could be a die off.

Could this rash resemble another coinfection rash that is coming out???

I am also going to try elimanting a lotion I have been using the past 2 days and not eat popcorn which I have the past 2 nights

Found this online, interesting...

After eatting popcorn my 7 year old broke out in hives. Is it possible to have allergy to popcorn? I took him to doctor and got benadryl and they went away. He has eatten popcorn before and this has never happend till now. It is the only food I can think of because that day it was the only thing he had eatten and then he broke out. I was wondering does this mean he can't eat corn either? Any advice would be great.

Was this microwave popcorn? Microwave popcorn can have dairy and soy in it. Corn, dairy and soy are some of the top allergens. So he has no problem with any other food? Does he have other allergy symptoms like nasal problems, eczema or stomach problems?

You might try popping some plain popcorn, not the flavored ones in a microwave bag, the ones where you use a pan and oil. He could be allergic to corn, or to the added ingredients.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Food allergies can appear at anytime. I am allergic to corn myself, and I didnt used to be. I discovered this in my late 30's.

IF your child is allergic to popcorn, more likely it's the corn in general. I also have issue with products high in corn syrup, corn starch, etc.

If your child is allergic to corn, I would get him/her tested, and also check for allergies to grains in general.

The oils used in popping can be high in palm and coconut oils, and the butter-flavor has been known to cause lung ailments in workers at plants and even for one heavy user of microwave popcorn.

I would suspect an additive rather than the corn itself.

I know I had to give up bagged microwave popcorn (not a big loss, Presto makes a great microwave popper) because something in it gave me canker sores in my mouth (I have the same problem with reeses peanut butter cups but I haven't worked out the common denominator).

Try stopping the new new lotion also.

I've been getting rashes/hives for years, no one really knows why???

Everything I say is just my opinion!

I don't know if I have much help, but I have had bouts of hives in the past. I asked my doctor about it, and he said it could be a herx symptom, reaction to meds, or acidity in the body.

I tried taking Zantac (antacid) that didn't help. I tried Zyrtec, which helped and gave relief to my sympotoms, but it didn't make them go away for good. For this particular bout of hives I figured out it was Fludrocortisone that I was on, so I stopped taking that.

So it takes detective work, and sometimes you may not figure it out before they go away! If you keep getting awakened at night, I would try Zyrtec or antihistamine before bed until you figure out what's causing them. We all know how important sleep is! Oh, and make sure you don't have anything acidic before you go to bed either. I don't know, just suggestions!

I hope you get relief!
