My Picc line was pulled yesterday because my insurance wont pay so my doctor prescribed cefdinir, minocycle, rifampin and plaquneil. He wants me to start the cefdinir, then 3 days later add the mino, then a week later start rifampin and plaq, I am so scared about a severe allergic reaction I can't even breath. Has anyone out there taken these meds and if so did it help you. I can't get over this fear I don't know what to do. any help will be appreciated!!

I have taken all of the above meds. you mention except the Cefdinir. I got great relief from Bartonella from the Rifampin (I was on Zithro too) and the Plaquenil helps with the cystic forms of Lyme as well. I did not have any issues but did herxed from the meds. for awhile.
It can be scary to try new protocols but adding in like you described is a good idea so you know if there is any reaction or not.

Have you had a "severe allergic reaction" in the past to one of these drugs? If so, why are you being prescribed them again, and I hope you have an Epi-pen! What exactly are you so afraid of? It looks to me like the doctor is purposely adding the meds in one week at a time because if you do have an adverse reaction you can tell what medicine is doing it. In my opinion, all doctors should be doing this with multiple meds, starting them one at a time.

I agree with wildcondor 100%.
On another note, I have done them all and had no problems. In fact, ceftin was one of the best drugs I have taken, got me to about 70%, then when I did a round of rifampin(with septra) I got to 100%. Unfortunatly, it didn't lsat after I stopped as bart is still a problem for me.
These are good drugs and a very aggressive regimin. Start slow, you may get worse before you get better but you have to keep on keeping on...it's the only way to get well. We are all here for support and of course, if you've had an allergic reaction to something before, this should be discussed with your Dr before starting any meds.
