I thought this article was very interesting.

http://tinyurl.com/yzv9rrn

Quote from that link:

"According to Dr. Mikovits, XMRV (which admittedly sounds like a satellite radio system for your Winnebago) can lie dormant in people, until it is "turned on or off" by other factors, such as stress hormones like cortisol, or in response to the presence of inflammatory "cytokines," protein molecules secreted by immune cells to help regulate the immune system.

And then Dr. Mikovits dropped a bombshell that is sure to spark controversy.

"On that note, if I might speculate a little bit," she said, "This might even explain why vaccines would lead to autism in some children, because these viruses live and divide and grow in lymphocytes -- the immune response cells, the B and the T cells.

So when you give a vaccine, you send your B and T cells in your immune system into overdrive. That's its job. Well, if you are harboring one virus, and you replicate it a whole bunch, you've now broken the balance between the immune response and the virus.

So you have had the underlying virus, and then amplified it with that vaccine, and then set off the disease, such that your immune system could no longer control other infections, and created an immune deficiency."

I don't doubt this one bit. I took the swine flu vaccine in the late 70's and I never felt the same after that. I almost passed out when they gave it to me and shots had never bothered me before.

I wasn't sick per say but I just never really felt good after that. It was about 10 years later that I was dx'd with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I always thought that vaccine had something to do with me being sick.

I didn't know till recently that the vaccine made lots of people sick. I had no idea. Needless to say I won't be taking the H1N1 vaccine this year.

Also, could having Lyme Disease turn on XMRV?

Dr. Mikovits said that XMRV could lie dormant within us and be "turned on" by something. She give vaccination as an example of something that could possibly "turn on" XMRV. But I can't help but wonder how many of those people that tested positive for XMRV would also have tested positive for Lyme Disease?????

Either way, I found it very interesting that Dr. Mikovits thought that vaccination could "turn on" XMRV and thus lead to autism in some children. But after that statement I wonder if she'll get to keep her job????

You're not supposed to say anything bad about vaccines and vaccination.

Emla,

You find the best articles. Thanks so much for posting this one. Oy, Vey, eh?

I hope she gets to keep her job.

Very interesting about vaccines. I've sure been hit with a load of bricks after some vaccines I received and won't take the chance again.

Lyme is known for attacking the adrenal system which, in turn, increases the stress hormones like cortisol -- and for creating a cytokine storm as a result of the infection's toxins (and the liver dysfunction that goes with it).

Right there are a couple of set-ups for immune dysfunction and a call for dormant stealth players to wake up.

--
I am not the first person to wonder though, that since XMRV can come from mice - and mice can harbor lyme and carry ticks - if ticks might also be carrying XMRV as part of the over all infection mix.

Ah shucks Keebler, now I am blushing. Thanks for the compliment!! [Smile]

And I feel the same way about you as well as others on here. Someone is always posting an interesting article here on lymenet. Virtually everyday I read something new and interesting here.

In someways ways I guess you could say that having a chronic illness such as Lyme Disease has at least one advantage.........It often causes us to research things that we would not have ordinarily researched. And thus we may learn things that we would not have ordinarily learned.

Very good indeed, Emla!

Sounds very reminiscent of The Potbelly Syndrome book, eh Keebler?

Don't you get Potbelly (Pot in your belly)
after you grind the marijuana, saute it, fold it into the brownie mix, bake it and eat the brownies ?

Ha Ha. Good to have a little laugh on a rainy day. Maybe I should try some pot in my belly, eh? There is a wonderful gluten-fee brownie mix that I've never tried (as I'm waiting for them to take 95% of the sugar out).

Truthfinder,

Yes, the PotBelly Syndrome really shines light on what those stressors can trigger. Correcting them takes much more work, though.
