i got to thinking. many years ago i broke a thermometer in my mouth. whether or not i swallowed the mercury i don't know. don't remember tasting anything.
and then again a couple of years ago, i broke one on the bathroom floor. never found the mercury tho.
and of course i've got a mouth full of old fillings that i've had since i ws a child, so i assume they're bad cause i'm 60 now and i had them done oh in the 50 or 60's at least.
probably got mercury but how do i know? i absolutely believe if i asked my gp to test for it, he'd flat out refuse.
do you have your llmd test for it or is it something i can do myself? but it had better be dang simple or else i won't do it right!!!

You need a holistic practicioner to run a hair test, provoked urine challenge test, and rarely it may show in blood (but GiGi states it's an organs/tissues after time).
With your exposure, self-treating is a dangerous, dangerous game.

randibear...You're dentist should be able to tell you if you still have mercury fillings. I am about the same age, and yes they were mercury fillings. My dentist told me over the years mine have all been replaced and have none that contain mercury.

It's like Lyme, you really can't. Oh and mercury coupled with Lyme makes life more hellish. I had 12+ amalgams and knew I was toxic. Had them removed and follow cutler protocol to this day, feel better and better after each round. So the diagnosis is the protocol. I started out cutting 25 mg pills in half and taking every 3 hours, now I take a whole pill. You will know your first round, if mercury is anissue trust me. www.vrp.com. Dmsa 25 mg they are selling remain stock since FDA made them prescription only.

And BTW, heavy metals are tested by (I believe), a 6 hr urine test taking DMSA. I can't have my tested again b/c of an allergic reation to DMSA.
My LLMD said the only other way was was hair testing, which is not as accurate.

IME hair testing shows what you have been excreting in the last 3 months.
So if you are not excreting it may show low but you may be storing a lot of it. It is not a straight simple interpretation.
Have trained with other docs who use it a lot + I respect their opinions on it. Also you may not get any evidence of it coming out through the hair until 3 to 6 m0nths after you begin a specific program.
If interested I know an excellent ND in Austin that you could see or do a phone consult with.

Greenpeace offers a mercury hair test for about $20. Or at least they used to (haven't checked in a while). You can also get serum tested by any normal lab (need a script for it).
I'm not sure which is more accurate, or if either is entirely accurate. But if you are overloaded with mercury, I expect one of the tests to come back abnormal.
