Hi everyone,

I have had lyme and co for 22 years. My most prominent symptom was always "fibromyalgia" pain.

In February 2008 I developed excrutiating neck/head/shoulder pain and stiffness while trying Ambien CR.

It feels like 3 vise grips squeezing my neck/base of skull/top of shoulders that never stops......terrible.

I have been treating for 9 months.

I just switched from Mepron/Zith/Tetracycline to Doxy/Plaquenil 3 days ago.

When I woke up today I realized that the left side of my neck and head had less pain and stiffness....for the first time in 1 year and 9 months.

The right side is still just as painful as ever.

I almost didn't want to mention it, but everyone benefits from hearing about others progress...even if it's just a little.

This is the first good sign I've had in awhile.

It may be gone tomorrow, but it gives me hope that the pain can improve.

So if you are thinking you will never improve...don't give up!

Just when you least expect it, you may get a little sign that gives you hope.

Thank you God.

Nice to hear.. Thats great..
Keep it up and I hope it gets better and better for you.
I just switched to Doxy too.. I have the biggest issue of FM Pain and Fatigue severe..

So I know how it is to have that overall intensive constant pain ...

I think that the doxy is an antiprotozoan and that is a big issue we all have that there are not tests to really show what we are treating but I always keep it in mind. Plaquenil also is an antiparsitic and can also help treat lyme.

So I think Doxy and Plaquenil sound good together.

Good Luck.

canefan and springshowers,

Thanks for your replies and good wishes!!

I was also on doxy/plaquenil for the first 3 months of my treatment but went off for the summer...so now I'm back on.

The first time I developed flu-like fatigue for a couple weeks. Maybe it won't happen this time.

Wishing you both improved health!

Awesome!

Yes, I like to update on little improvements whenever I can, and I mention them in others' posts too.

My theory is that people only update once they've completely recovered (if even then), and by then, they've forgotten all the little details of what helped along the way.

So whenever something helps someone, I think it benefits us all to shout it from the mountain tops!

Wishes for continued improvements!!!!

That is good!

Whenever your body starts showing little increments of improvement like that it usually means you are starting to recover. Even if it is for a few hours at a time where you feel no pain or a symptom disappears, it means you can functionally improve. [Smile]

Dekrator,

May I ask what dosage of Plaq and what dosage of Doxy. I may be throwing some Doxy back into my plan. I have not taken it with Plaq before. I hear it's a good combination.

Thanks
