Hey, I know alcohol is a big no no with Lyme but my question is, "Would there be any side effects or interactions if I had say a half a glass of wine every so often on Bicillin?

I am afraid to ask the pharmacist because they will think I am an alcoholic. Just wondering if anyone has tried it and if there were any detrimental effects.

Not with penicillins. But there are many other lyme drugs which are no-no with alcohol (flagyl is one example)

This looks like it's best to wait until after treatment is finished - you'd sure hate to have the treatment fail. Every day, every hour matters.

My doctor does not even want me taking any alcohol based tinctures, saying that even the small amount in tinctures can be very hard on a the liver of a lyme patient. A damaged liver can cause brain fog, pain and fatigue for the rest of one's life. Not worth the risk.

For those with compromised livers, alcohol can also raise the level of toxic porphryins that can KILL nerve cells all through the body, especially in the brain. That's another whole, complex topic. Burrascano is not trying to be mean but there is much damage that even just one drink can do for someone who has a rough infection - topped with a compromised liver and tender brain tissue (as all lyme patients have).

You want treatment to work so that you have a chance of a good life.

There are some very nice rich juices. Trader Joe's has a wonderful organic pomegranate juice, etc. You can add a touch of stevia and some fizzy water and fit right in with any holiday celebration.

CERTAIN ABSOLUTE RULES MUST BE FOLLOWED IF LYME SYMPTOMS ARE TO BE PERMANENTLY CLEARED:

3. Absolutely no alcohol! . . . .
