Can anyone PM me the dosage of quinine they took, or post it here?
I have searched the archives on this one, and everything I find is vague.
A lot of people did not post their dosages on this site, they just mention they are taking it. (which I completely understand, but it's to the point where I can't get any info on what a normal Quinine dose for babesia is. In contrast, you can find lots of info on Mepron dosages)
I know TuTu was taking a lower dose, and I've had one person PM me a higher dose, and I have one other who is trying to find out what she took.
So that's 2 so far, but they are so different, so I'd like to see what others did.
It seems there are very few people on this site who have taken Quinine. So I may bump this up a few times to get enough answers.
I have read that 650 mg X 3 daily is a therapeutic dose. I am on half that right now.
I wouldn't be questioning my dose, except for the fact that I have no side effects, and it seems very mild. This is worrying me, because I imagine babesia could easily become resistant to something if the dose is too weak.
I asked my LLMD about my dose, and they want me to stay on it for now. But the lack of seeing anything is driving me insane, so I just need to hear some other dosages, and maybe I'll feel better.
Thank you!

- Please follow your doctor's advice.
Lack of seeing anything? It's not making you sicker. That is a very good sign that your body is tolerating this dose right now.
Side effects can mean liver damage - or permanent damage to ears. You don't want that.
You might ask your doctor for the long range plan or for articles he suggests to further your education and understanding in this area.
No two patients are alike. Others who have taken higher doses may not have been on the same protocol as you or have the same infections or body chemistry.
Low and slow may work out to be a good move but I can see that you'd want to know more. Your doctor is the main key to understanding the approach and reasoning. -

Thanks for responding.
I would not increase the dose without my doctor's permission, just to be clear.
I understand there are differences in people/protocols that could account for why different doses are used, but I'm just curious and wondering what others did.

- Good to hear about conferring with your doctor before any changes. I might have jumped the gun a bit as just yesterday I read a post where someone was thinking of increasing a Rx against doctor's order.
It would be interesting to see a range of what has worked.
I'd also be curious to know the best liver support that has been suggested when taking Quinine.
And . . . all this talk sure has me thirsty now for a frosty glass of tonic water and soda - with a twist of lime. But the tonic waters all either have sugar or artificial sweeteners. Sigh.
I just found this and it seems that you are on about 1/2 dose - but note that normal treatment is just for one week. Even tiny doses can adversely affect some people.
It is not even listed in the index of Singleton's book, "The Lyme Disease Solution." -

"The normal dose to treat malaria is 648 mg every eight hours for a week."
Wow. You'd think babesia would take way less than that.

I assure you a 325 mg per day can't be sufficient based on literature. I'm not sure how high is safe. I struggled with ear issues as Keebler warned about.
