I have been feeling very weak for the past few weeks. I cannot get my energy level back up. My B/P normally runs around 120/78, but lately it runs about 100/66. Is this something I should contact my PCP about?

Thanks,
Jen

My BP has been running even loweer than that for a long time, long before diagnosis.

As long as it's not causing you lightheadedness or making you faint or any other ill symptoms, it's not necessary to call your doctor specifically for that.

A nurse did tell me to be sure you're drinking enough water; dehydraation can cause low BP.

And yes, low BP is common with Lyme.

My normal BP for years was 90/55. I wouldn't worry about it, it's not THAT low. I would mention it to your LLMD next time you talk. It may be significant that it dropped.

Thanks to all! It's good to know I don't have "another symptom" to worry about. I have noticed extreme fatigue since my B/P has dropped.

Then that is reason enough to run it by your doctor.

Now this will not make you feel any better.....

There was a recent study that said if your diastolic (lower number) is below 70, your risk of heart attack is double.

If it's below 60, it's quadrupled!

Because I have A-fib and already at increased risk of heart attack.. I am going to my cardiologist on Monday to see if we can change meds that I am taking.

My BP has been running 90/53, 95/60 etc for months. I am tired and now I'm a bit scared after hearing about that study on TV!

My GP said something does need to be done, because my heart is not getting enough blood/oxygen with that low a BP.

He said the systolic is too low also.

I agree with Lymetoo, if you've experienced fatigue since it dropped, you want to bring it up to the doctor.

My LLMD and two other doctors told me to eat more salt. It helps, but be sure it's good sea salt.

And it is true that dehydration can cause it to go low.

Here is what I found .. differing statistics than what I stated.

will look later for more studies .. says this one is controversial.

Mine runs extremely low as well and has for years. It is typically 90/60...I've even had lower than that like 80/50. Every time I get it checked the nurses kind of flip out and want to do it again.

I do get dizzy almost every time I stand up or bend over etc. It is the worst in the morning.

I have found that eating salt and drinking lots of water helps a lot.

I thought heart attack risk was for people with HIGH blood pressure! Sigh...I really don't want to worry about that with everything else. How depressing.

You never know what to believe. They say high blood pressure is all you have to worry about and that low is GOOD and now it's the opposite...

My blood pressure is extremely low as well. Has been for a very long time. My blood pressure runs as low as 80/40 or 80/50 or 90/50. I am on Florinef to raise my blood pressure but it doesn't seem to help especially seeing that my blood pressure is still as low as 80/40 at times.

I don't like hearing about this because I do have heart issues already. Blah. I am not going to get all stressed out about this because I have enough other things to worry about.

I agree disturbed....I have to read on this site in intervals because when I spend a day or 2 reading here (like today) I get all stressed out.

I have so many symptoms it isn't funny but worrying about them won't help. So I come here, get info, get freaked out, leave for 2-3 weeks and then come back. I have to do that for my own sanity!

One thing about that study is that it was on patients who were taking Lipitor. I'm not!

So maybe it's not as bad as it sounds. I will ask my cardio on Monday.

Have a great weekend!
