Anyone have this happen. I have been taking the

Bicillin injections for quite some time now.

Now the injetion site are swelling with burning

sensation. Its as if all the medicine is in a

pocket lump and is more painful than previous

injections. I might have worked up a sensitivity

to the medicine is that why it seems more

tender. There is definatley lumps that stay

behind from previous injections. Does this

mean I may becomming allergic to it or my body

is not recovering from the injection of pocketed

medicine left behind.

Any insight would be helpful. Thanks...

I've been getting bicillin shots for thirteen months.

I was told to rub the site for a full minute after getting the shot and to walk for a few minutes afterward to distribute the bicillin.

That's what I've been doing and I havent had a problem.

Suggestions anyone?? [confused]

yes i have that as well. In my opinion just take a two week break. It won't hurt you.

the lumps should go down. They'll come right back after your next shot probably lol. But take a rest. or as your doctor to give it higher around above the hip.

Hi everyone. Does your insurance company pay for Bicillin shots? Mine will not pay.

2 questions. Are you switching sides each time? Is the needle long enough - 1-1/2 inches?

I have done Bicillin, my son and husband and not had this happen. But our LLMd made it very clear to "bury" that needle deep in the muscle and inject slooowwwllly.

Hope you feel better soon, sounds painful.

Try applying heat and massage the area to relieve the soreness and help prevent lumps.

Make sure to rotate sites with each injection. Do not inject into a lump or any sore/irritated spot. Run a google search on IM injection sites. Dorsogluteal and ventrogluteal are the best for large amounts of medicaiton like Bicillin.

You need to inject the medication deep into the belly of the muscle where it can be absorbed well. The medication will not be absorbed properly if injected into fatty/subq tissue.

times4, watch the painful lump closely. If it is not getting better, seems to get more swollen or painful you should see a doctor.

Take care [Smile]

Sammi- My insurance paid for the first six weeks then I paid the rest out of pocket.

Switch sides each time, go in the hot shower afterward and then lie on a heating pad. Helps to do them before bed. [Smile]

joalo, I am glad your insurance paid for at least six weeks. I hope you will do well when you stop them.

My doctor prescribed them, but my insurance will not cover them. Unfortunately, I cannot pay for them.
