I foolishly did something call Hyfrecation to remove lesions on my face. 8 of them. Becuase of my poor immune system. THey gave me Keflex 500mg 3x a day for 10 days. I have never taken any abx for lyme. I was planning on trying to find alternative methods for it at one point becasue I have a very resistant yeast infection and my stomach and intestines are ripped up and I only weigh 99lbs at 5'4. Used to be 5'5 but I shrunk in height [Frown] Was at one point as low as 92lbs and 5'5.

I apolgize for my ramblings. Ok back to my face its bad. I look awful. I was desperate and I caved and decided to take the Keflex even though its causing me many bad side effects.. Im concenred what it would it cause the lyme to go into cyst form now?

Also has anyone ever used collidal silver with antibitotics? Does anyone know if this is safe to do?

I have been in tears , I look awful and worried about scaring and that the lesions are not healing on my face. also dealing with severe dental problems and in weakened state right now.
Thanks for your help sorry if I sound desperate.

Love,
Brite

I would not worry about taking 10 days of Keflex.

Even if it caused some lyme bacteria to go into the cyst form, it will all come out of the cyst form when you stop the Keflex. It should only take a few weeks after stopping the Keflex.

Any time you treat lyme, it will go into cyst form. So, this will happen again in the future if you ever start treating lyme. You need not worry about the cyst form. It is not worse than the spirochete form or anything like that.

I hope the Keflex helps your face. Be good to your stomach while taking it. Wish you the best.

Thank you so much TF! Do you know if its safe to take it with Silver? Also I noticed my ears are ringing a lot more with this. I think I remember seeing a post a while back that certain abx can cause ringing ears. If I stop the abx do you think the ringing will not be as severe sort of like how it was before I took it? anyone with this experence?

Check here for info on the med:

www.drugdigest.com

I never heard of the cyst form going back on its own..????...but flagyl will get rid of the cyst form.

Quinine can cause ringing in the ears.. don't know about the Keflex. Check it out.

I hope you get the infection cleared up!!!.. and find a good LLMD to get you well!!

This is from page 13 of Burrascano:

"CYSTIC FORM- When present in a hostile environment, such as growth medium lacking some nutrients, spinal fluid, or serum with certain antibiotics added, Bb can change from the spiral form (``spirochete'') into a cyst form. This cyst seems to be able to remain dormant, but when placed into an environment more favorable to its growth, Bb can revert into the spirochete form."

See what he says at the end. When you stop taking antibiotics, the environment is again favorable for the growth of the lyme bacteria, so it can revert into the spirochete form.

I learned the following from my now-famous lyme doctor: He said my previous lyme treatment had converted all my lyme to the cyst form. So, he had me stop all antibiotics for 1 WEEK. (I had been on them for 2 years.)

Then, he had me restart the antibiotic with flagyl. This was to ambush the lyme. Evidently, he believed one week without antibiotics would be long enough for the lyme to revert to the spirochete form. Then, when it came out of the cyst, the antibiotic would kill it and the flagyl would kill it if it tried to go back into the cyst form.

(I had never taken flagyl during that entire previous 2 years of meds.)

It worked for me. Treated lyme for 2 months with flagyl. Then, moved on to treat coinfections. It has now been 4 1/2 years since I completed my treatment and I am still symptom-free, enjoying my life without lyme disease.

Regarding silver, I personally would never take any product with silver in it. My lyme doc certainly never told me to take any silver products.

I tried looking up keflex for you but did not find anything saying it could cause ringing in the ears, but I have experienced that with many antibiotics, so I believe many of them can do it.

THanks TF and Lymetoo! It was really nice to look that up for me. Well I already had ears ringing but the Keflex made it worse. Did you find that when you stopped using the abx that the ringing got better?

If you cannot tolerate your treatment with Keflex call your doctor. They may recommend changing medications.

You must take the full coarse of an appropriate antibiotic to clear the infection. I learned this lesson the hard way.

My LLMD said I could take CSilver with my treatment

if I wanted. So it is ok. Silvadene cream is the

number one drug used for burns/prevent infection.

Yes I would put it on my skin. Silvadene is very

expensive because it works.

Thanks guys. And pinelady for letting me know aobu the cream. TF did your ringing get better after you stopped the antibiotic?

Sammy, I did let my doc know she still wants me on it but at a lower dose. Cant lowering the dose cause resistance too?

The lower dose might be more appropriate for your current weight.

Pediatricians usually adjust doses based on weight. Adult docs generally don't think about it. They prescribe the same doses to everyone.

If you are not already, be sure to take the Keflex with food. That will help prevent side effects.

TF.. thanks for that info. Very interesting.

The fact that you took flagyl proves the point I was trying to make. Not ALL cysts will convert back to the spirochete form. They need to be treated! (with a cyst buster)
