My Dr. Gave me the lowest dose 2.25mg and I cut that in half, so I only took 1.25mg and I have been sedated all day.

My anxiety was untouched, in fact, I feel a bit more anxious if that is possible.

My Klonopin and Xanax have pooped out despite going up on those dosages prior to this trial. I couldn't even take my standard dose today because of the sedation from the Zyprexa.

The same thing happened to me on just 25mg of Seroquel.

On top of that, I got freezing cold with body aches and what feels like a soar throat.

I got these flu like symptoms when trying to get on Lexapro lately, which made my anxiety worse. I've tried a few of the SSRI's and SNRI's and can't tolerate the side effects.

The only thing that gets my anxiety down is low dose Percocet. I'm talking 2.5mg, which is spit, but it only works for a few hours and I don't take them but once every few days for fear of addiction/tolerance.

I've tried OTC supps too and nothing works. I wonder if the Pyroluria is to blame here. Wish my body could just relax. I sleep like a rock and that I don't understand either.

My Dr. has never heard of such a thing, but I told him that I only speak the truth.

Any thoughts ?

Gary

Hey there Twister,
Lexapro(although I was told by my llmd in training that it was an ssri and could handle both the anxiety and the depression)turns out is only for depression.

I stopped taking the second 10 mg tablet at night because it sure as heck did'nt help me sleep.
Let's face it...whenever I go into the manic phase of this disease there isn't too much that can settle me down. I have Ativan on hand and usually take 1mg of that and a 10mgcyclobenzyprine to aid me in getting to sleep however, I rarely if ever stay asleep.

My doc tried the Zyprexa on me as well at the 5mg dose. Warned me not to go to a 7.5 or 10mg dose if the 5mg did nothing.

Well, the 5mg did nothing....the 10 mg helped me sleep however not thru the night....and I woke with heart issues...tightness, shortness of breath, numbness down left arm to hand, dizziness....

This was wayyyyy back in April of this past year prior to the IM BICILLIN"G". When I would go for 6 to eight days without any sleep at all....and wind up in the VA clinic...them wanting to give me depakote....

I told them I would be willing to take it if they would kindly give me a SPECT or PET scan beforehand.

They declined......and so did I.....I got the "Grunt, does'nt want to take his Psychiatrists advice about medication"! "Difficult patient" routine...from the shrink....

I got along great with the (I believe she's a PsyCHOLOgist......or Sociologist....but when she handed me off to the (probably head of the psych dept)Head-headshrinker-duck-

With all his "gung ho" medals and "Geedunk crap" hanging all over his office walls....I did'nt see any point in going into much detail about my issues of PTSD or Lyme or anything for that matter.

I just showed him the sleep test results of my not attaining the last two levels of normal sleep-for "normal human beings"! And Right away, after finding out what other junk I was taking...Just like the COMMERCIAL....He wanted to give me "ABILLIFY".

I asked him...."Have you seen the commercials that drug has out"? He replied, "Nope" why?

I told him "Ask your drug rep.,"!

Who the heck needs more junk attacking my poor over workedbrain!

As far as that stuff goes....the Zyprexa....I don't know why you're on it if you sleep like a stone!???????

Sure wish I could sat that....I was just getting towhere I would get four or five straight hours after a month and a half of IM BicillinG when I hit the Medicare"not so" Complete Gap in paying for my meds....

Too bad as I REALLY thought I was getting somewhere....

Good luck...

I know someone who started on zyprexa and experienced the sedation you speak of. Like a previous poster said, lexapro is just for depression.

Risperdal was the answer to the zyprexa problems. It has less of a weight gain effect than zyprexa as well. Both are the same class of drug, but this guy did much better on Risperdal than Zyprexa

My doc said Lexapro helps with anxiety. I don't trust the doc who said it one bit though.

These drugs are a timebomb.

The studies that support them have been faked (either data omitted, results skewed to look favorable, contrary data left out or made to look unimportant, etc.). The doctors who promote them are paid off. The known side effects include homicidal rages, suicidal ideation, heart arrythmia, macroscopic brain changes that are abnormal, etc.

Most all of the adverse reactions are handled with ANOTHER PRESCRIPTION OR TWO OR THREE. This is exactly what the drug companies want--for them, the billions of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ in fines for their activities are just a cost of doing business.

Every one of the psychotropic drugs now has a "black box" warning.

I recommend http://www.ahrp.org for more data on all the above points.

This does apply to you.

Best,

Cass A
