I recently developed what i believe are bartonella scratches-- i have been treating lyme, babs, bart w/ IM bicillin, mepron, zithromax, and diflucan for yeast

-- could this be a herx or a sign the meds aren't working to hit the bartonella?

those are not good meds against bart. Rifampin+bactrim is what is used. Fluorquinolones as well (but they are something you dont want to use )

I only did 3 weeks of rifampin + doxy. I didnt continue with that regimen mainly because I wanted include macrolide ASAP and am concentrating on lyme, rifampin+ macrolide is not good combo according to my llmd (and from what I read rifampin increases metabolism off all other liver metabolised drugs).

My lyme is also practically guaranteed but I have nothing to show for bart except symptoms (my vegf1 came back very low , and bart usually raises according to some)

I will return to it definitely, just not this treatment cycle. I really d like to deal with barth/babs, but I dont room for it this cycle

I have had good luck using bactrim. I've been treating for 2 yrs and started on it 2 mos ago and it's the only drug I had noticeable difference with in 3 days. Joint pain was almost gone. Big improvement with the twitches I had.
