I just got dxed on dec 2nd after being sick since 2000, and having symptoms since 1991.

My positive lyme results are in my signature.

My llmd put me on 200 mg doxy (100 2x a day), and I don't know how long it takes to notice the buggers dying!

Maybe I am impatient?

The only symptom I have is the common tummy ache from abx.

How long were you on abx before you started herxing?

Is herxing the only sign you're killing the bacteria?

I was thinking that even though herxing sucks, every bad feeling you would have would be worse for the lyme, because they are dying...

Kinda want to kill 'em all. I know it takes time.

How long for you to herx, get better, improve fatigue, improve mental function, improve neuro symtoms?

Not everyone herxes on every abx.

I don't think I ever herxed on Doxy, just had the usual upset stomach.

I did herx badly on Amoxyl and I suspect on Ceftin (had a strange reaction when on that for a sinus infection before dx).

Make sure you eat w/ doxy. Food in your stomach before swallowong pills. Just not dairy w/it.

And, as said above, not everyone will herx.

And, if you have been sick this long, 100mg x2 Doxy may not be enough.

your dose is probably too low: when I went up to 200 mg TWICE a day, I noticed a huge change; when I added Tindamax to that higher Doxy dose, I started to really herx & improve.

I kept expecting to "herx" right away. I started doxy, 200 mg once a day for the first week and thought it would hammer me.

It started to hit after my LLMD upped the dose to 2x a day, but still, "herxing" can be so many things. My herx started around Christmas when I was extremely fatigued.

On Minocycline, it was balance issues. On herbs, it just depends. Everyone's herx is different. I would recommend journaling or blogging about it. You will start to notice things. . .it doesn't have to be super hard herxing, but if you start paying attention you will feel better about whether or not it is working.

And everyone is REALLY serious about the food thing. Always eat with doxy. I learned my lesson and you don't want to go there.

I don't think you are on a high enough dose. I was given 200 mg 2x day as my first line of treatment.

To kill Lyme, you need at least 400mg of doxy per day. That said, not everyone will herx. And not everyone will herx on every med.

You may herx at the 3-5 wk stage.

I agree with everyone elese in that your Doxy dose is too low.

I didn't herx bad on Doxy and when I did it was well into the 3rd week of taking it and I primarily had fatigue.

I was told that in order for the abx to work I have to take it on an empty stomach. I don't have a problem handling the tummy aches, but I wasn't sure if that was herx, it seemed like it was too mild.

I see my llmd again on the 28th I'll see what to do from there.

Made sure the office knows I am not herxing for their records.

When I was first diagnosed last year, my LLMD told me that it was common not to herx until 3 weeks into antibiotics. For me, it was a bit sooner than that.

However, I was on several antibiotics at the time.
