Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this? I've been struggling with nausea and a terrible taste in my mouth lately.
Zofran barely touches the nausea. The taste is so bad I have to force myself to eat and drink. Even foods that I love taste disgusting to me now. And the very thought of food makes me feel queasy.
Salty/savory foods don't bother me as much as sweet or mild foods. It's so bad I haven't been able to force myself to eat any fruit in days. This is a crazy because I love fruit. I miss it and want it but can't eat it right now.
Any suggestions? I've tried adding lemon to my water and mints but I can't stand the taste of either right now.
If my new medicine is causing this will I get used to it? Will this bad taste go away or will I have to stop the med first?

I really don't have any answers for you, but just wondered, have you mentioned this either to your doctor or the pharmacist?
One or the other would probably better be able to say whether it's a med reaction or something else, as well as how to deal with it.
I hope it passes soon.

Are you taking biaxin currently? This med causes kind of a bad, metallic taste in the mouth in many people.

I have not asked my doctor or pharmacist about this. I'm assuming that both the bad taste and the nausea are a side effect of the Tygacil. These symptoms began the day after I started this new med.
None of my other medicines are new or increased doses. I've never had my mouth taste this way before. Biaxin was somewhat metallic tasting but it did not affect me like this.
Thankfully my mouth and tongue look fine, healthy, normal pink. So no clues there.
Whatever it is I hope that it goes away soon.

Tygacil is definitely the cause for your nausea and the food aversions. I am on it and it does the same thing to me. Nothing touched the nausea so my LLMD pulled me off as of today as I have been losing too much weight.
Hopefully you will get use to it.
