feel absolutely horrible. I hate this. The past few days I've felt pretty good, but woke up this morning feeling HORRIBLE.
I feel so weak and my muscles are stiff feeling and twitching. I feel like they can't relax. My neck and shoulders are hurting and my head feels SO heavy and weird. I feel SO weird and can't hardly move. My heart is hurting too and has been for the past few days. I'm also getting random bouts of chills. Checked my temp and it's 96.8. What does that mean? I feel so hopeless and emotional as well, but I think it's just the result of feeling like Hell.
Something is wrong. How the heck can I go from functionable one day to this?
I looked back on my posts and saw that it's been just over a month since I started my new abx. Could this be a herx? A month ago when I started the abx I had the same emotional feeling that cleared in a day or two. I'm thinking about going to the ER. Something isn't right. My hubby is coming home from work to help.

Some people herx at the same time every month, so it could be that hitting you.
It seems pretty common for us Lymies to have low temperature. Not sure what it means, but I can assure you it seems to happen a lot around here. I wouldn't stress too much over the number itself.
I would only go to the ER if you feel this is an emergency. Otherwise, it might just be a waste of time. I hate to see people with Lyme go to the ER, only to be told there's nothing that can be done, and then they just feel worse about themselves due to wasting their time for no answers. If you are concerned, you may be better off calling your LLMD in the morning.
Of course if it really is an emergency, head to the ER.
I would drink like half a lemon squeezed into water...that has actually helped me from some very acute herx symptoms. It will alkalinize your body.
Hang in there! Hope this gets better.
You may also want to read up on the side effects of the meds you're on, just in case any of it could be that.

Thanks Hoosiers.. I'm going to call my LLMD this morning and try to get in this week. I've had this same feeling when I very first got sick and ended up in the ER. You are right... they couldn't find anything wrong and said it was something neurological and referred me to a neuro. It's just so scary feeling like this. My eyes feel weird too when I move them... Like thy are swollen or something. Can't really explain it.
Guess I'll try drinking some lemon water and hot epson salt bath.
Why do some people have monthly cycles. IT doesn't make sense to me.

Kare, I think the bacteria replicate monthly, so the abx can hit them harder at that time.
Re your eyes, if you want to try drinking some mangosteen juice - it's an anti-inflammatory antioxidant juice. It stopped my Lyme eye symptoms. I drink the Ultra brand, with 70 minerals added. If you try some, go slowly and drink a lot of water.

I think it is the nature of lyme and herxing...Assuming nothing else is going on.
My herx timing/cycles change depending on what med I am on but one thing is for sure. I can feel okay - nearing pretty good one day and then the next day be on the couch feeling like I was hit by a mac truck...Then in a few days wake up only to feel pretty darn good again.
Since I have been on Biaxin I have been getting some emotional herx symptoms which I never had on any other med. For me, since it does clear in a a few days and I end up feeling almost "better" then I did prior I assume it is a herx and I remind myself of that each time I enter into the dark herx abyss again...
This is a very frustrating thing to have and can be very scary with such an array of symptoms. Hard NOT to wonder if something else is going on. Always good to get the reassurance of your LLMD just to be sure.
BTW...I get that eye pain thing to when I am having a bad day..Like it hurts to move my eyes..I use a soft ice pack and that give me an hour or so of temporary relief..

Thanks for your replies everyone. I just went and took a nap and am still feeling like crap. I've called my LLMD but can't get in until next Wed the 23rd. I couldn't talk to him either. I have to make an appt to even talk to him! And the 23rd is the soonest. Ugh!
I NEED to get into a good LLMD stateside I think but unfortunately can't afford tickets home right now
I remember feeling this weird head/eye pressure when I first got sick before starting abx. I'm always worried that it's the disease progressing and not a herx or whatever.
Yep, just yesterday and Saturday I was feeling productive and just good. I wasn't symptom free but everything was tolerable and I felt reasonably "normal". Then BAM! I noticed last night I was getting the twitches and just was feeling off. Now feel like crap!

I'm sorry you are going through this. Same thing happens to my daughter. She is 99 percent for about 3 days and then BAM out of the blue
she starts feeling crappy and pain starts up everywhere.
I hate this nasty frustrating disease...I hope you get relief soon...ask the LLMD to call you if they get a cancellation.

Just wondering, on your good days, did you try to do a lot more than usual?
I know if I do that on a good day I'll suddenly get hit the next day or so and feel like a truck hit me.

The thing that I hate most about this disease is how one day I will feel "functional" and able to get through the day accomplishing things. But the next day I'll wake up the feeling like I've been put through the meat grinder. It's pure hell at times--just like you said.
I've been to the ER in the past, when I felt really bad, but every time I've gone it ended up being a waste of time. The doctors, especially here in OK, have no clue about this disease.
I sympathize with how you are feeling kareamber, but do know this, what you are experiencing is pretty typical of what many of us experience on a bad day.
Good idea to call your LLMD and tell him what's going on and see what he suggests you do. The heart pain is not something to mess with. If that gets worse then go to ER to make sure you aren't having a heart attack. How's your blood pressure?

I think this is the exact nature of Lyme Disease. Everytime you think you are feeling better and things are moving in a positive direction......bam!
This is why ppl get discouraged while treating LD; but if you hang in there sooner or later you will feel better.
Try keeping a chart of how you feel. That way you can see on paper that you do have good days and that the bad days always pass.
Always contact your LLMD if you are concerned!

I agree with sutherngrl. This is the way lyme disease is. It's a slap in the face. You think you're doing better but you're really not. :-( It tricks you often!
To Original Poster - it sounds to me like you're herxing. What you've explained I've had many, many times myself.
Hang in there. And I agree with others, it's usually a waste to go to the ER unless you feel for sure you really, really have to go.

Kareamber I am so sorry to hear this. I will tell you that, even now, when I am feeling much better, I still have relapses Are they a month apart....not sure. I will try to remember to time them. The good news is that they are shorter and less severe as time goes on. I am not on meds, herbs, nothing and it is happening to me....so not a herx in my case.
But still happens with some regularity! Too bizarre!
