I'm trying to get the names of some other companies that provide the services necessary for a picc line.

The company my dr uses isn't on my provider list and the rates are outrageous - so much so that I don't think I'll be able to even have one.

Thanks!

Are you talking about the surgical supply company that provides the meds and nursing? Ask both your insurance company, which ones are in-network in your area, and a local support group for recommendations. If you don't have an in-person support group, there are the online support groups by state on yahoo.

You should definitely do it in-network. It would cost you a fortune otherwise. You might start with the support group, as they know who is good in the area.

If you are looking for a home health care agency to provide nursing care for dressing changes and infusion instruction you might want to check your local phone book. Call around, that's what I did.

If you have a local PCP they might have a favorite home health care agency to refer you too also.

Good luck [Smile]

Thanks for the advice - I wasn't even sure what kind of company to start looking for.

The one my dr sent me to is sending me the medicine and supplies and has also arranged for a nurse to come each week, but the nurse is actually from a different company.

I was completely shocked at the rates. How can anyone afford to get over this disease? [Frown]
