While on Rocephin, my LLMD is having me get weekly & monthly blood tests (Quest Diagnostics). The monthly test results just came in the mail and this is what it says:

NATURAL KILLER CELLS:
...LYMPHOCYTES, ABSOLUTE.......1087....RefRange 850-3900
...NATURAL KILLER CELLS-
......CD3-CD16+CD56+ (ABS)..........64....Out of Range....RefRange 70-760
......CD3-/CD16+CD56+...................6....RefRange 4-25%

Of course, I'll discuss with my LLMD but my next appt is a month away. I've searched here on LymeNet as well as on the Internet but found nothing to explain what the "Out of Range" number means.

Does anyone have insight?

Thanks!

This is the CD-57 test. Lyme disease will lower your values on this test. Yours aren't bad at all. 64 is barely out of range.

To read about this, just go to Burrascano Guidelines on-line and do a search on the word "killer."

http://www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/B_guidelines_12_17_08.pdf

On page 30 he recommends a special supplement for people whose natural killer cell count is below 60. So, that shows you that yours is pretty good.

On p. 8 is a section on the CD 57 test. You should read it. Here is a quote that says to use Labcorp for the test, not Quest:

"When this test is run by LabCorp (the currently preferred lab, as published studies were based on their assays), we want our Lyme patients to measure above 60; a normal count is above 200." (p. 8)

So, not sure the Quest values equate to the Labcorp values.

Well that's good news, I hope. I wish I could go through Labcorp instead.

Thanks
