well i got in early. my appt was at 9:30 and i guess he wasn't busy or something cause he took me at 9 when i got there.

luckily they had the results f rom the er visit yesterday, ct scan and all bloodwork. he said from that it looked like severe diverticulitis but that some additional inflammation looked like it might be c. diff.

he said i apparently had a diverticulosis back in 97 and something triggered this.

he told me to take the cipro, flagyl, and gave me darvon instead of ultram. he also gave me ambien to help me sleep.

he gave me a stool test kit for c. diff and said to get it returned. apparently the flagyl will take care of c. diff and said if it comes back positive they will stop the cipro asap.

i was in pain and cried and he assured me that he's on top of things, i'm not going to die, don't need to go into the hospital. has been treating me for 20 years so he knows i'm a real wimp when hit comes to pain.

he said if my temp goes over 101, i get uncontrollable rectal bleeding, go to er immediately.

oh we scheduled a colonopscopy for february 5th said no way we would do it now with all the inflammation.

said to stick pretty much close and no travelling because until we get this straightened out he doesn't want me out of the area.

put me on very mild soft foods. oatmeal, cream of wheat, baked potatoes, applesauce, etc.

stillin a lot of pain, a 5 to 6, and tired. the flagyl is giving me a massive headache. it's hard to sit and laying down is just as bad. ugh..

i haven't had diahhrea since about 7:30 this morning so that's good.

will post more as things progress.

thanks for all your concern.

randibear - As I was just saying to another poster, let's all hope that 2010 is much better to us than this year has been.

Yes, we understand "wimpiness" and after enough pain, we're all wimps to some degree; just wanting it to stop. (Speaking of stop - Please stay off the Humaworm or anything else that your doc hasn't rx'd. Pleeeeease!?)

So glad you're stable for now, although a colonoscopy is not my favorite thing; beats some of the alternatives.

Hang in there.

You will be in my prayers. Staying on the soft food should help too.

Take care of yourself, and get lots of rest.

Randibear, I'm glad to hear that the doctor is taking your symptoms seriously. Hopefully you will start to feel better soon with your new medicines and soft diet.

Take care my friend, I'll keep you in my prayers [Smile]

make sure you take a ton of Florastor, like 4 per day of it for the long haul.

Also, if you are already on Flagyl that c.diff test will probably be inaccurate. Cipro CAUSES c.diff, what are you taking that for!!??? RED FLAG. Flagyl does treat it but oral Vancomcyin seems to be superior.

be careful...bleach everything you touch!
take the florastor!!
Stay hydrated!!!!

i guess the cipro is for the diverticulitis. he did say that if the test comes back positive, then stop the cipro immediately....

but like i said, now i'm constipated!!!! and can't give a stool sample..

edited as of noon today -- passing green diahrea. got the stool sample and took it to the lab.

just waiting on results, but pretty sure it's c. difficile plus the diverticulitis.
