I am going through the whole Lyme/CFS diagnosis process yet again...I don't want to get into the specifics right now but I do have a question. This board is most informative and I am sure I will (hopefully) get some opinions.

When I first became ill in 2004 it began with excruciating muscle cramps and twitching (calves) suddenly.

Then I had a 24 hour flu in which my hands would become stiff and sore if I was in a resting position.

My question is actually..the day after the 24 hour flu I went to the hospital for blood work. It came back with these results:

Sedrate-25 (0-20)
C Reactive-10.6 can't find normal values on this
SGOT (AST)-118 (17-62)
SGPT (ALT)-249 (20-125)
WBC 3.2

My doctors are in disagreement on whether this was an inital viral or bacterial attack.
Within two weeks my levels went back into the normal range.

Does anyone have an opinion on what they think this was?

I don't want to make this a long post but yes I have had Lyme treatment and viral treatment with valtrex and valcyte.

I am just really looking for opinions on the bacterial vs viral infection originally.
Thanks...
Kim

I'm not sure you can tell by the labs you posted whether or not you had a viral or bacterial infection initially. What you need is antibody testing to the various pathogens. That would give you a clue. If those were not run, it isn't likely that you will know the answer to your question.

Best, Timaca
