Used to be, prior to Lyme, that everyone around me was ill, but not me! Years I went with no cold, flu, etc.

But this year...H1N1, and now the virus that is going around...I got them both!

I wonder if our immune system is just on overdrive. I have about the same symptoms and course of illness as others around me that have it, except that it does cause my neuro symptoms to flare each time.

Are others finding this to be the case ?

LOL! that is cute!

I used to get every little thing that went around after I got lyme. Lately, since I started treatment, I hardly ever get sick.

However, last week, I got a cold.

Sometimes it's a good sign if you begin getting colds and viruses.

For YEARS while teaching, I never caught any colds or stomach viruses (whew!)... but I felt sick all the time (from Lyme).

I did catch a bad cold about 2 wks ago.. and feel it is a GOOD sign that my immune system is recovering.

Part of our immune system is in overdrive and the other part is deficient. Go figure.

Yay, then! Some good news for a change. I do feel like my immune system is on overdrive, but must be supressed too since I get everything!

Still sore throat today....but better than yesterday. Stupid Lyme neuro flare still there, though...

ninjaphire, I will try that. What is that second thing and where do I get it?

Randibear, how are you feeling? Saw the post yesterday that you were in ER? Hope no one there sneezed on you! [Big Grin]

I have actually not had one cold or virus for going on 4 years now since becoming ill with LD. If its a good sign, then I would welcome a cold.

Also, I use to get fever blisters(herpes virus), maybe 2 or 3 a year. Not had one since LD.

Before I got sick, I would was the one who never got sick. Now I catch every thing. I have a really low natural killer cell count, maybe that's why. My doctor wants me tested for XMRV because of that. The test isn't available for a couple of months though.

There's a very interesting thread posted by emla999 entitled something like 'the Common Cold'......

Colds and flus may be brought on by something I never even considered: pH balance (acidity).

Might be worth a look at that thread.
