I started taking Sam-E to boost mental clarity. I took an enteric-coated version.
Well, it's like my entire abdomen was on fire. I was chugging Pepto Bismol.
I have heard this happens as a side effect; it has happened to me before with other brands.
Does anyone know why this happens? Is there a way to avoid it?
Thanks.

If it makes you sick like that - it's probably best to look for some other way to treat your problem... You may have an allergy or sensitivity to it.
Maybe try ginko or some other brain boosting combo? There are alot of alternatives for enhancing brain function.
