Okay, so I posted recently about my neck/base of skull pain, how I sometimes feel like I'm falling backwards when I lay my head down on a pillow, and how a few days ago I felt a sudden "brain trying to hurl itself to the floor for an instant" episode.
I haven't had that last one again, thank God. But the neck/base of skull pain is worse, and now it feels like something in my brain hurts...like something going right through my brain to the front of my head. It's like the pain in the back is causing the pain in the front. It hurts a little more to bend my head back (but not to bend it forward).
Then last night hubby and I watched a movie in bed, and the movie had subtitles. About 3/4 through the movie suddenly the subtitles were doubled.. like words on top of the words. That was scary. But I realized that it only seemed to blur the words when I had my head tilted back. When I tilted my head forward the words weren't doubled.
I went to sleep, and slept okay except for waking to keep readjusting my head because of the neck pain. But I woke up with morning with my eyes hurting.. like behind and around my eyeballs. I don't have the double vision anymore.
I've had encephalitis before and it was horrid. That was 7 years ago. I had a severe headache, head pressure, couldnt lift my head off the pillow and was just loopy for a few days. I also had fever then.
I don't have fever now (I rarely ever am able to muster up a fever) and I don't have the excruciating head pain. But I don't know if maybe it's the beginning of encephalitis or, God forbid, vasciculitis.
I know I should call my LLMD but he's just going to tell me to go see my PCP probably. My appt. with my LLMD is in 8 days.
I've not been on abx for nearly 3 months now. (I've had LD for over 22 years and also had mycoplasma, rmsf and west nile) But LLMD thinks I possibly have Bart.
I only take my klonopin as always, some milk thistle, and these "Susan's Herbs 40-day protocol" which I've already posted about. This neck pain started before the herbs though.
Hubby hates to take me to the hospital or Urgent care. I mean, he will if I force the issue but he really just hates to because they always say I'm normal etc. Gosh, I just don't really know what to do. It isn't absolutely unbearable, but it is miserable. And the double vision last night and eye pain this morning are new.. and scary.
Should I suck it up and go to the ER when hubby gets home, even though they will likely run a few tests and tell me I'm fine? Call my LLMD and let him say "go to your doctor"? Agggh.

Bartonella has been the cause of all of the above symptoms plus a few more for me. The headaches being the worst as they are constant. I had blurry, not double vision but that was frightening too.
I have made a huge turn around again on Rifampin. This is my second round with Rifampin and both times I have made huge strides very quickly.
Maybe its worth a call to the LLMD to see if there is any way to sneak you in early - sometimes there are cancellations.

Thanks Aimee. I suspecting Bart as well as the possible culprit. Unfortunately I couldn't see my LLMD sooner even if he had an available appt. Hubby has to take a day off work every month to drive me there (it's a few hours drive) and I'm not allowed to drive that far. He wouldn't be able to get off work and get me there, since he tells them in advance when my appts are.
