My doctor started me on vitamin D3 as my D 25 count was low. Taking 4000 iu a day. Has anyone else felt worse when taking this? My joint pain, muscle aches and fatigue seem to be getting worse.

Did you happen to start any antibiotics at the same time? If so, this could possibly be a herx and not the D3 causing you to feel crappy.

I've been taking D3 for a few years now and never had a problem with it.

My doctor had me start low (1000 IU) for this reason- joint pain may be increased if you start at a high dose.

I can't remember the mechanism right now, but i did look it up and saw it was a possibility.

If I remember why this can happen, I will post back.

I was interested in this too as my GP told me to buy a OTT light. I bought grow lights yesterday and hope they help. I also take the supplement. I searched online and what you read varies as to the effectiveness of the lights. My condition always worsens in the fall and deteriorates through the winter. I wonder why this is and have thought maybe it is related to the vitamin D deficiency.

I have been taking 10,000 IU of Vitamin D3 a day (prescribed by my LLMD) for the past 6 weeks or so and haven't noticed any effects I blamed on it, good or bad.

I started right off with that high dose. I am using liquid drops that have no taste or smell to them. My vitamin D level was only a little on the low side before starting it, and I haven't checked it yet to see where it is now.

However, I started doxy about the same time, which I believe gave me a pretty bad herx (worse pain than usual and in places I hadn't had it before) for about 10 days, and since then my joint/muscle aches and fatigue have been a lot better than during the herx, but a little worse than they were before I started doxy. I am not getting progressively worse, though. I can't tell yet if I'm getting better.

I started vitamin C and Jarrow probiotics at the same time as the D3 and doxy. I was already on multivitamins, fish oil, milk thistle and sarsaparilla.

I am sure that every drug or supplement has a different effect on different people's immune systems, nutrient levels and combination of infections, and it's difficult to tell which one is responsible for what if you are taking several at a time. Some effects may also be from combined effects of two or more things.

Good luck figuring it out! I hope you feel better soon.
