I've been on Flagyl (1000 mg/day) for about 11 months. My LLMD is thinking that maybe I should switch to a different cyst-buster to prevent abx resistance.

Previously, I'd thought that Plaquenil was used as a cyst buster for Lyme.

However, I just heard about Eva Sapi's findings that Plaquenil is *not* effective against cysts. I have a short summary of her findings, but I was hoping to find a longer paper or other explanation.

Does anyone have such a resource or know where I could find it?

Just want to be up on the latest info before I bring this up with my LLMD.

Thanks,
AnnaL

Flagyl for 11 months? Are you pulsing? Have you had any side effects like nueropathy?

I'm on Plaquinel but I really don't know if it is doing anything for the cysts. I would be interested in knowing what you find out.

I only started pulsing Flagyl (five days on, two days off) in the last couple of months. Prior to that, I was always-on.

It never really bothered me, no side effects or anything. I think I'm pretty lucky in that regard.

My child's LLMD says that Plaquenil does not target the cyst form of Lyme at all but rather the spirochete form.

But, I think every LLMD has a different viewpoint on what meds target what.......are you on anything besides Flagyl?

Chuck-

I have seen this before, so thanks for posting it.

Is there any reference to what dose these MBC's are equivalent to in vivo?

The usual dose of Plaquenil is 200mg x2/day.

Thanks. Let me know what you find.

I take the usual suggested Plaquenil dose.

I should know what the MBC vs. dose means (by profession), but am pulling a blank on how to figure it out.

I'll try to look as well.
