I'm up to 4 capsules of freeze dried garlic, taking orgainic virgin coconut oil and pumkin seeds with lots of sea salt on them with a glass of oj.

My head is burning again with crawling feeling and sometimes I brush across my face thinking I have a hair tickling me.

Am I taking too much? Is this a herx? Parisites?

Everything you are taking is antiparasitic and making the bugs (parasites) run because they can't stand it.

The pumpkin seeds and lots of sea salt especially are VERY antiparasitic. Keep going if you can, but make sure you are moving your bowels to get the dying organisms out.

You might want to add some vitamin c to get things moving.

Well, I'm not sure why this thread is addressed to me. To be clear, I never suggested that garlic be taken like that. Not sure who did but it was not I.

I never would have had the guts to even try your vigorous experiment. Did you take those 4 garlic capsules at once (right off the bat?) with orange juice? Not even working up to that grand event ?

My stomach would have come right up and out and clobbered me before the last sip !

I've been taught: start low and slow - in the middle of a meal. It's a good rule that has helped me.

One capsule per day for a while until you know how it will work for you. In the middle of meal at first so you know how your stomach will manage and for the food to help buffer if there is a burn.

The orange juice can intensify the burning. Pumpkin seeds contain great minerals but are worthless to protect the stomach from garlic. More food is needed. (Oh, and a banana is never enough food to take with vitamins - I learned that the hard way, a couple of times).

After you see how your stomach does with garlic capsules, you can try on an empty stomach - but that's a learning curve and some brands work better than others. Enteric coated is best.

I am not a fan of taking coconut oil just to be taking it. I think it's good to use organic coconut oil as a food ingredient but I know nothing about the way so many here seem to be using it.

If intended as an anti-parasitic, there are many other things that won't pack on the pounds as a lot of coconut oil can. One tablespoon a day is my calorie limit on that. I also use Olive oil and Fish oil, but also keep an eye on how much.

Hey, I hope you feel better soon. Take care, now, okay?

I called upon you because of your knowledge.

I have worked up to 4 caps a day not all at once.

Oh, good. So glad you worked up. But over what frame of time - at least a month?

I'm actually amazed at those with strong stomachs but lets see, this is what I would do, then.

Slippery Elm will help soothe the lining of your stomach. Make a gruel with the powder - put a little water in and stir and then add warm water and drink.

Stinging Nettle can calm down the cytokine reaction from a herx.

Lots of good water . . . and don't give up on garlic . . . it just is probably too soon for so much. Don't push your body too fast if it is tossing you messages wrapped in stone, so to speak.

That hyper skin reaction as if you have a hair across your face, normally, I'd suggest magnesium to calm down the neuro-excitement. But, after garlic and OJ, that could be hard on your stomach (unless you have transdermal magnesium).

Try soaking your feet or hands in an basin of warm water and epson salts (or a warm bath - not hot).

If you have REGULAR cat's claw (not the TOA-free), that can be very calming to the nervous system. The TOA-free kind does not have that calming property.

Scullcap tincture (in's not good in capsules) can also calm down the hyper reaction your getting right now.

Milk Oat Seed is also a calming tincture. Holy Basil (Tulsi) . . .
and be sure to get lots of water.

This should pass . . . sorry you're in such pain. Now, for encouragement, I will tell you that even with the most tender stomach on the planet, I was able to work up to four capsules of Hepapro allicin (3 x day) on an empty stomach for a couple months and I did great then, also with other supplements as part of a full plan.

But, had I tried to add orange juice - my stomach just would have gone on strike. So, maybe, you'd want to consider a different beverage to keep your stomach happy.

Good luck. Others may come along with good suggestions to balance this out for you.

-----------
To be clear: I am not at all a medical person of any kind. My opinions are just that - based on my personal experiences intended to help. I don't have much energy for all the niceties so often just toss out what might sound like orders. Just suggestions - along with all the other ones from all the fine posters here.

As always, Keebler has wonderful suggestions.

For the scalp/head burning, I use a poultice of yogurt mixed with milk. It is very cooling and soothing.

I dab it on my head, put some paper towels on top and a baselball cap to hold it in place. It always calms down the burning for me.

Top two links from: The One Earth Herbal Soucebook (Tillotson, et.al) Hint: this makes for an excellent personal resource book. So much is explained here not just about herbs but about how the body systems work. Not about lyme, still, excellent and enjoyable to read.

Mentioned above, you can also search this book for Slippery Elm and Stinging Nettle: http://oneearthherbs.squarespace.com

MILKY OAT SEED (Avena sativa)

WHAT IT DOES: Milky oat seed is sweet in taste, and mildly stimulating and cooling in action. It restores strength to the nervous system when exhausted . . . .

STARTING DOSAGE:
* Tincture (1:2): 20-40 drops three to four times per day

Milky oat seed is a mild but reliable remedy for strengthening the entire nervous system after periods of prolonged stress.

A chief virtue of milky oat seed is its extreme tolerability by otherwise highly sensitive patients who have difficulty withstanding treatment with stronger tonic herbs. It seems to exert an immediate effect (necessary when patients exhibit extreme anxiety and nervousness) as well as a long-term strengthening benefit.

. . . often combine it with scullcap, which has stronger sedative action.

Good alternatives include "Avena-Scullcap compound" made by Herb Pharm and "Phytocalm formula" made by Herbalist and Alchemist. These formulas have seen many of our patients through severely stressful periods . . . It is safe for use by everyone, even infants. . . . .

depends on the person as far as the coconut oil goes-I don't gain any weight right now so I love it.

It should def be monitored as a per person basis like any other treatment or sup.

Glm, how in the world did you come up with that idea? I'm glad it works for you. I think my family would think I went off the deep end if I try this.( I'm not criticizing your ingenuity )

Well, I have always been taught to go directly to the source of the problem. I even put it on my back by the small intestine. The skin is the largest organ and it seeps in.

Don't know if the good bacteria is getting through, but I have herxed from it many times. The question is, do you want relief or do you want to worry what your family thinks?

I know it's difficult dealing with families, but you can always say it's hair conditioner. [Smile]

Oh, come on - have a family spa night: yogurt hair conditioner for everyone ! It will make hair all bright and shiny, tell 'em.

I used raw eggs in my hair for a conditioner in high school. But no one told me to wash out with COOL water. With very long hair, my hot water rinse gave me a head full of scrambled egg bits for a week. I think I was supposed to have first mixed the egg into mayo but I just did the eggs.
