So periodically my hands or feet will go numb when sleeping or sitting too long, but usually it goes away after I get up and move around.

I have neuro lyme plus bart and babs.

I woke up in the middle of the night last night to find the entire left side of my face completely numb on the inside - I could still feel sensation on the outside but it felt swollen (even though by sight it wasn't)

It went from the top of my scalp down to the bottom of my neck. I could not breathe at all out of the left side of my nose.

It also felt like it was spreading over to the right side a bit too.

I was scared, very anxious. I was afraid it would get so bad I wouldn't be able to breathe at all. Getting up didn't really help much. So after two hours I took an ativan and tried to go back to sleep.

I slept for about an hour. This morning it is a little better but very noticable still.

What in the world is this? How do I get it to go away?

Since starting Biaxin/Bactrim/Mepron I have been having alot of CNS flares - they scare me.

I also have autoimmune issues complicating things as well.

Do you think I need to back off treatment a little or think about IV instead?

I don't see my LLMD till the 11th.

Aimee, I remember so well how frigntened I was with numbness on my face. I also had periods where one side or the other would be completely numb.

Don't remember any of them lasting anymore than a couple hours, but enough and repetitive enough to worry. It sounds like neuro lyme to me.

I don't think that IVs will stop this. You are on a pretty strong combo of abx. I wouldn't of survived that combo, but that was my reaction to abx.

I think it probably can wait until your appt. Some really scarey stuff can happen with treating lyme & company, that's for sure. Not treating is even scarier.

asleep. If I sit too long in one place 25-30 min.

I have to get up. and get the blood circulating

again. Befor I was dx. with lyme, I went to ER

Probably bells palsy trying to make its presence known. UGH.

Some LLMD's will allow backing off the meds a day or two if a herx gets bad... check with your dr.

Hopefully, the meds are clearing this problem out so that it will not be a problem in the future.
