I have been on Bicillin for more than two months and have developed stomach problems.

Last Friday I was nauseous after dinner. Since then I have been nauseous after eating and have been waking in the middle of the night with nausea and flu like feeling. No fever. Alternating between diarrhea and constipation. Lots of gas after foods.

I talked with my LLMD and he wants to me to stop bicillin (I am moving on to high dose doxy for RMSF).

I am thinking this may be a mild C. Difficile infection. Abdominal CT scan today was negative as are blood tests for liver, kidney etc...

I was taking 4 caps of Jarrow probiotics throughout Bicillin injections and recently started S. Boulardi. Neither seem to have worked. It seems my stomach is not liking any supplements right now.

Any advice on other solutions (flagyl is a possibility)? I heard Culturelle is very good. Anyone take that? How does it differ from other probiotics?

Tried some beano tonight with my food to see if it helped with the gas.

Any thoughts welcome!

Jarrow is usually a good brand. You might want to consider trying VSL#3. It comes in a powder packet or capsule form. Much more potent, higher count than any other probiotic, 450 billion per packet. You can buy it at pharmacies like CVS or order it online. They will ship it to you quickly.

If you are concerned about C.diff, get tested (stool samples). Don't wait around until your symptoms are severe.

You could also try taking some digestive enzymes before your meals. That might help with the gas and nausea. Your body might be having trouble breaking the foods down causing the diarrhea and constipation too.

These are miserable symptoms, hopefully you will be able to figure out how to control/prevent them.
