I always thought probiotics were part of yeast treatment. I'm unfamiliar with Florastor.
S. boulardii prevents C. Diff. I'd be taking it if I had C. Diff in the past.

Maybe Florastor has beneficial yeasts in it, and they don't want you to take anti-fungals that kill the beneficial yeasts.
Probiotics that are mainly beneficial bacteria such as acidophilus are fine to take with diflucan or other antifungals. S. blouardii is a beneficial yeast.

yeah, I've read a lot of suggestions to do exactly what you're talking about. I brush my tongue when I brush my teeth, so I don't get thrush very much, you might want to try that also if you don't already.

I have a hard time comprehending this probiotic stuff but my Dr has me alternate Culturelle (lactobacillus GG 10billion cells) and Florastor (saccharomyces boulardii).
I have found the Florastor at my CVS...although it is in a different place than the other probiotics--I had the phar. show me where it was.

Randibear.
I asked this question a few months ago. I don't fully understand, but Florastor is different than your regular probiotic.
Diflucan will kill the benefits of Florastor so there is no use in taking it while treating yeast. However, you should still take your regular probiotic.

There's also Candida Clear by Now. I hear Pau D'arco tea is also very good.
Dumb question: you've got the diet super cleaned up? No cheese, no gluten, no alchohol, no fruit, no sugar, no fruitjuice, no leftovers, no white flour etc etc??? With over 3000 posts you must.

Also I 've read that opening one probiotic per day in your mouth is good. Swish it around in your mouth a while, then swallow.

Let me clarify.
You cannot take anti-fungals for yeast treatment if you are taking Florastor. Florastor is s. boulardii and is a beneficial yeast and will be killed off by the anti-fungal drugs.
You CAN take probiotics at the same time as antifungals.
You can NOT take antibiotics at the same time as probiotics. Space them out as much as possible.
When you are on antibiotics you shouold be taking both pro-biotics and Florastor to help prevent c.difficile.
If you have c.difficile you can NOT take any antibiotics (for a very long time if not forever) except for oral Flagyl and oral Vancomycin. IV forms of those drugs do not work for c.diff but do work for Lyme.
Culturelle is very good too. Getting the Brand name Florastor is recommended because it has been extensively studied and tested for quality (unlike store brands of s.boulardi)
I still take them but much less than I used to. Too many probiotics can cause infection.
I actually feel much better after cutting back.

I think food based probiotics is far superior to pill formed. I think the food based creates an environment for the culture to survive in the body more closely to how nature intended.
I hope some day there are more studies on the efficacy of consuming cultured food.
I've been looking at the advantage each food based probiotic has. I've specifically been looking of late at natto, so I might get some cultured packs of it to try. I'm specifically looking at natto for the gut having the ability to create vitamin k2. K2 oriented organisms in the gut are more sensitive to ABX. K2 is important for circulation and bone health, and bone health is important for metabolism. Imagine our guts ability to generate vitamin k2 has lessened, what would that do? Not enough K2 could eventually lower body temperatures due to the imbalance in the body.
I would rather my own gut generated k2 then having to supplement it.
Just a thought...
