I apologize for asking so many questions - and I am so grateful for everyone's advice......

I'm having a terrible time with bloating, nausea and weight gain.

I'm on a strict gluten free diet and am very careful of what I eat.

I can't figure out what's causing this - can it be yeast??

Number one symptom (bloating) I would say!

Are you eating gluten free breads and other simple carbs?

Go here for diet suggestions:

Even with a good diet you could get yeast...unfortunately.

Are you on doxy?? That is the most likely abx to cause nausea.

I was on Doxy up until a few days ago. My Dr switched me over to Zithromax and Ceftin.

I rarely eat gluten free bread. I do eat gluten free pretzels every day to help with the nausea.

After my first month on abx, is when I started to get hugely bloated. Now I have churning stomach and nausea to go with it.

Could be two problems... the abx and the yeast... OR .. "just" yeast.

No gallbladder pain, right?

A few pretzels should be OK. No sugar free cookies or candies, right?

Did you recently change your diet? If so, you may be having trouble getting used to the drastic change.

Sometimes increasing fiber too quickly will cause bloating and nausea symptoms.

Or you might not be digesting your foods well. You could try taking some digestive enzymes before meals to see if that helps.

You might also consider taking more probiotics or switching brands to see if that helps relieve your symptoms.

Nope, I had my gallbladder removed a few years ago, and no cookies or candy. Strong smells or anything sweet makes my stomach roll even more.

I've had odd cravings lately for fish, broccoli and coconut.

I was given Nystatin last week but wasn't sure if I could take it along with probiotics so I haven't had any of it yet.

momintexas, what are you doing for toxin removal? Does Dr. W have you on anything for that?

Yes! Take the Nystatin .. unless you're on Florastor.

Nystatin kept the yeast at bay while I was abx.

sammy, no new diet changes other than the abx cocktail. [Wink]

I actually do take papaya enzymes throughout the day.

Hi Gary - nothing has been said about toxin removal.

Lymetutu, I'm taking Florajen 3. I posted about that a few hours ago. So you think its ok to take both the Nystatin and Florajen 3?

I had bloating, nausea, gas and weight loss and I thought it was yeast, c.diff or parasites. It was an H.pylori infection.

I sound the H.pylori queen around here ever since I was diagnosed, but my GI was messed up for nearly a year!

I urge anyone with any GI issues to get blood tested for it, it is common to get w/Lyme according to my LLMd.

The best treatment for H.pylori is 1000mg of Amoxi and 500mg of Biaxin twice per day with a PPI, like Prevacid, Prilosec, etc.

Did Dr. W tell you about Milk Thistle or anything of that nature? If not, it would be a good idea to bring up toxin removal ideas next time you see him.

If he doesn't have much to say about it then you might want to consider finding an ND and get some advice on what to do to keep your liver and gut healthy while on abx.

I have chronic nausea, bloating, stomach pain, slow bowels and I was diagnosed with 'Gastro Paresis'

Look it up on a medical website and maybe get yourself tested.
