Hi folks, I'm trying to put together a budget for what IV treatment may end up costing. I will not get a chance to talk to my LLMD about it for a while and don't want to bother him with an email about this right now as I can't actually afford any of this right now anyway- just trying to figure out funding options.
I'm trying to figure out what typical prescriptions for the following IV meds would be: how many times a week:
Rocephin (I gather that's either 2 g/day 7 days a week, or 4 g/day for 4 or 5 days depending on the LLMD)
IV azithromcyin: if he puts me on zith as well as the Rocephin, which I think he mentioned to me once, what might the dose frequency be? This seems to be the really expensive one. How many times a week are patients who are on both Rocephin and zith typically infusing the IV zith?
IV Flagyl: When you've been put on Rocephin and they've added IV Flagyl, what is the frequency of the Flagyl?
IV Clindamycin: He wants me to use this at some point to deal with residual babesia issues. What is the dosage typically? How often? Is it given at the same time as Rocephin or other IV antibiotics?
If you're uncomfortable discussing treatment details in public, please PM me with any information you can share.
Thank you Lymenet!

Im in the middle of Rocephin/Zith iv treatment right now. Although insurance denied the rocephin treatment as a whole (home helth care, supplies, nurses, picc line) the actuall prescription for the powder vials from the pharmacy has always been 10$ a month, don't know why but im not gonna ask. Rocephin = 4gm Monday thru Thursday.
The Zithromax vials aren't covered and it comes to about 75$ box of 10. Zithro = 500mg Fri thru Sunday... which works out better since i only need 1 box a month then. Supplies I get through my LLMD each monthly visit.
The PiCC line i got a written prescription for that I took to the hospital, and insurance didn't question it, just had to pay co-pay for hospital visit but the bill was around 4000$
Hope this helps
